This Weeks Good Things 11.23.20

Happy Monday and hello from Charleston. Oh my goodness. The past week was a lot; I feel like I am just coming up for air and able to really BREATHE and relax now that I’m here. Uprooting your life during a pandemic is scary and stressful, even when it’s temporary. But my little cottage is so cute and I’m so happy to be here. I’m fully unpacked and all settled in. Today’s mission will be getting groceries (and wine lolz) at some point. One thing at a time.

I saw my parents last night (they came to my backyard and we ate sushi from afar) for the first time since February and it was the best. I thought I was going to cry but managed to hold it together. This year has been a hard one and just getting to sit 8 feet away from them and eat dinner felt like the best treat in the world. Probably the highlight of my whole 2020 if we are being honest.

Anyway, here’s this week’s list of good things. Lots of fun, pretty things for you to look at this week.

Ronan Bouroullec

Tanya Taylor posted a piece of Ronan Bouroullec’s artwork to her instagram and I immediately started following. Love his instagram (he’s pretty well known but I didn’t know about him!), and you can snag one of his posters here – they’re pretty affordable!

Serving New York Cookbook

Oh my gosh this cookbook is such a brilliant idea and would make the best gift ever! I can take credit for the idea: Becca mentioned it on our episode with Gee Thanks Just Bought It and I was like OH YES I NEED THIS. And the best part is that 100% of the profits will go to ROAR (Relief Opportunities for All Restaurants) x Robin Hood’s restaurant relief fund, providing cash assistance to NYC restaurant workers.

Everyone needs our help but having grown up in a restaurant (literally – our house was attached) and done every possible restaurant job, this cause is particularly near and dear to me: my heart aches for restaurant workers. And as things cool down in New York I think it’s really important to do as much as we can (if you eat outdoors, tip WELL, donate to orgs like ROAR if you are able to, or buy this cookbook for everyone on your list!).

Color for Breakfast Discount Code

Do you remember when Color for Breakfast painted Tyrion? OK you probably do not, but I do. It was glorious and I was so impressed/flattered! Anyway, they reached out to give me a code for my audience, so I had to share! Take 15% off anything (including your own custom pet portrait!!!) with code TYRIONATWOOD. Love the code so much! You can see more examples of their work on their instagram!!

Studio Roof Flower Bouquets

Studio Roof Flower Bouquets

This was a Claire + Erica find (their newsletter is the best!!). Studio ROOF is a family business that sells (amongst other things!!) the COOLEST recycled cardboard flowers. They come flat packed and then get flat packed and assembled. The result is nothing short of art – such a cool, smart, statement-making idea! They sell a ton of other amazing products but I’m partial to the flowers.

Nicola Bathie Early Black Friday

Nicola Bathie Early Black Friday

Nicola Bathie is one of my absolute favorite jewelry designers, especially when I want a unique vintage-inspired . The photos don’t do her pieces justice – they are exquisite and so special. Annnd she’s started her Black Friday sale a few days early. Use code friday to take 25% off almost everything! I’m eyeing these trellis drops and these golden flower earrings.

Have an amazing 6 weeks in Charleston, we went there for our babymoon 5.5 years ago, and it remains one of my favorite cities. Just the most charming and the best food. I’m sure you already know about it, but we had the best croissants and coffee (well according to my husband) at Gaulart & Maliclet Fast and French Inc. Enjoy the time with your family!

Family is everything. You even look different. A bit of a glow that comes from within. I am full of gratitude for your blog posts/IG stories/tips/podcasts during 2020. They keep me going. I live alone too and recently moved away from family and friends. Here is to a relaxing refueling time in CHS.
