Things I Love But Shouldn’t, + A Few Classic Pieces for Fall.

A few classic pieces for fall
Jacket // Tank // Jeans // Necklace // Shoes

Last week Jen had a really fun post up about her guilty pleasures… things she loves but shouldn’t. I loved the post so much – and there were a lot of things on her list I could definitely relate to. (Going to bed with wet hair is one of mine too, I didn’t put it on my list, but why!? I know I’ll wake up looking like a mess, and maybe even get a cold, but I do it anyway.) Today I’m playing copycat and sharing ten things that I love (but probably shouldn’t!) This was fun. I would love for you to share your guilty pleasures in the comments below!

Before I tell you about the things I shouldn’t like, here are some good things I don’t feel at all bad about loving!

  • Good American Jeans: My favorite denim brand right now – it has been for a while. Who knew I’d ever love Khloe Kardashian’s denim line (no offense to her but I’m pretty sure I literally have nothing in common with her) so much but here we are. The jeans fit so well, are so flattering… and I love that the sizing is so inclusive.
  • Cami NYC: The best camisoles around. I have tried ’em all and have yet to find one that’s better made or prettier. Love.
  • This necklace. The fact that the front is a pegasus and the back says “Cosmic Cowgirl?” Love at first sight.
  • Bags by Sofia Fima – she sent me this one and it has quickly become my go-to work bag. I love the insert (which is removable) – it has places for all of my things (laptop, water bottle, etc.) but is incredibly chic and I like that it’s nondescript. I get compliments on it wherever I go.

Outfit Details: Helmut Lang Blazer (Really old, but this one is a better price and pretty much identical) // Good American Jeans // Cami NYC Camisole // Hart Hagerty Necklace // M Gemi Heels (c/o, also love the classic nude leather ones  -Take $40 at M. Gemi with code GRACEA40 – ends 10/31!) // Sofia Fima Bag (c/o) // Lipstick is L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte in Rose Lancôme.

A few classic pieces for fall

one // taking a day off from watching / reading the news.

I feel horribly guilty whenever I do this, but sometimes you just need a break.

two // when plans get cancelled.

Jen had this on her list too and I wholeheartedly agree. Of course there are exceptions, but in an overly scheduled world there really is nothing better than suddenly finding yourself with a free night to read, see a movie, or just peruse whatever’s just been added to Netflix.

Classic pieces for fall

three // really bad YA books…

Like The Selection and The Paper Princess. So bad but so good. I lost myself in both of these (terrible but addicting) trilogies this summer and am on the hunt for my next guilty pleasure book. (Any suggestions? I’ve heard good things about the Luxe books but haven’t started them yet.)

four // making a meal out of bread and cheese.

I’ll pick up a baguette and go to Bedford Cheese shop and get a piece of truffle tremor cheese. It’s the best/most non nutritious meal ever.

five // ordering the same thing off the menu, over and over again.

I’m actually a pretty adventurous eater. If there’s something I’ve never heard of, I have to try it. But every time I go to Sweetgreen, it’s the Guacamole Greens. And I do this at a few other favorite places. There’s something comforting about ordering your old standby, even if you know you really should branch out and try something else!

M. Gemi The Atto shoes

six // candy crush.

It’s my secret shame. I’m addicted.

seven // deli sandwiches.

I’ve gotten a lot more conscientious about what I eat this year. I don’t eat a lot of meat and try to eat mostly organic produce + fish. If I do eat meat I’m really careful about where I get it from. (It’s not about calories, it’s about what’s in the food we eat which can be quite scary once you start to pay attention.) I generally avoid cold cuts as they are loaded with bad stuff. BUT sometimes I just desperately need a deli sandwich. So I’ll let myself have one every now and again. Turkey, American Cheese (yes also so bad but since we’re doing the cold cuts c’est la vie), lettuce, tomato and mustard on a roll. The whole thing gets toasted and it is divine.

CAMI NYC The Racer lace-trimmed silk-charmeuse camisole

eight // diet coke at the movies.

It’s up there with deli sandwiches. I know it’s terrible for me and don’t drink soda (or diet soda!) otherwise; but there’s nothing better than diet coke (or diet root beer if they have that machine with all the flavors) when you’re at the movies.

nine // a rotating list of lowbrow but amazing romcoms…

For when I’m PMSing, burnt out, or sad. This includes How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, Clueless, Mean Girls, The Devil Wears Prada, and I know there are others but can’t be bothered to go and look at my iTunes account.

ten // The Bachelor.

Enough said. I was late to the game here (I didn’t watch until the Nick Viall season), but I love it – and snarking on it. So I simultaneously feel guilty about both watching it and snarking on it!

Pegasus / Cosmic Cowgirl Necklace M. Gemi The Atto M. Gemi The Atto

These M.Gemi slingbacks make me feel cooler than I actually am. We talked about them a little bit in my Fall Shoe Guide. I love that they are comfy but slightly edgy. They also come in silver and tan. (Take $40 off at M.Gemi with my code: GRACEA40 – ends 10/31/18!)

I order the same thing from the menu again and again too! I always tell myself I’d try something new, but I go back to the same ol’ every time… I’m learning to be okay with it, haha! 🙂

Two guilty pleasures stick out for me….. eating popcorn for dinner if the rest of my family is away and it is just me at home. I am not a big tv watcher at all but when I travel for work, I stay up wayyyy too late watching tv that I would never, ever watch otherwise.. I am looking at you Keeping up with the Kardashians and anything on HGTV!!!

LOVE this outfit on you! You look so chic. I’m curious – with these kinds of camis, do you wear a strapless bra? I love the look but never know what to wear underneath.

Thank you so much – I wear this lace strapless bra, it’s the best. Stays up all day/ night but since it’s lace it doesn’t add any extra bulk. http://shopstyle.it/l/Tl1S

Definitely read The Luxe!! Those were sooo good! The same author also did a trilogy called Bright Young Things. Not as good as The Luxe imo but still fun!!

I need more books about teenagers having problems in glamorous settings with minimal parental supervision…. that’s the key to a guilty pleasure book. I just read S.T.A.G.S. and it ticked those boxes but was a bit graphic. I need more suggestions!!

Those are the best books!!! Have you read The Thousandth Floor? Or The Paper Princess series?

(I think you might be right on that being the key)

I love this outfit on you! 🙂 I also love the Bachelor and Bachelorette even though it is so ridiculous. There is a place in our neighborhood where I will rotate ordering the same three things. Also, I am jealous of your deli sandwiches. I grew up on Long Island and have had quite a few in my life. Yes they are bad for you but they are SO GOOD. Anyways!! Thanks for sharing and have a great day!! 🙂

Oh, my hidden indulgences! (I stopped calling them guilty pleasures because I do NOT feel guilty…but I don’t want to advertise them!)

Fried egg rolls and fried rice (the worst nutritionally but so good every once in a while), formulaic mystery series (predictable, but fun), my twice a year can of Diet Coke – usually accompanied by popcorn, as a dinner. Also Friends reruns (so basic), chicken wings, and hiring a babysitter to go to things like book club or a coffee shop by myself instead of saying no because my husband has other plans. Lots of my friends won’t do this but it one of the best investments of my time and money.

Love this list! Can’t wait to go through and find some YA recs. Has anyone read The Uglies? My cousin who is a middle school librarian has recommended it a bunch and she loves The Selection, Paper Princess, etc.

I order the same thing at Cheesecake Factory and I always order Eggs Benedict whenever I go out to brunch, no matter what. I’m an adventurous eater as well, but my mission is to try every eggs benedict. Call me crazy, I don’t care!

I don’t know if you ever heard of WaWa but it’s a “gas station” “convenience store” and there hoagies are amazing!

OMG Cheesecake Factory. It’s been forever but man it is just so good. I haven’t been in ages but they used to (or maybe still do) have these buffalo chicken potstickers that were just everything (And I ordered them every. single. time.)

Loved this post so much!! To ease your mind about loving Khloe Kardashian’s jean company, it was actually started by Emma Greede and she enlisted Khloe as partner as more of a marketing strategy, so you probably have more in common with Emma Greede than Khloe (lol). Also, the Diet Coke guilty pleasure is REALLLLLL.
