The DIY community is pretty great. This post is something I’ve been meaning to do for quite some time now… to honor my peers, and spread the love. That said, as with any list that is not statistically based, this list is my favorites. And totally subjective. There are a lot of really wonderful, amazing DIY blogs out there. My intention is not to leave anyone out, but to showcase my favorites, and hopefully introduce you all to a few blogs you haven’t already heard of. So, without further ado, I’d like to introduce you to the Top 10 Fashion DIY blogs of 2012! (excluding S&S of course, ha!)
These are in alphabetical order… I mean come on, it was hard enough to pick ten, let alone rank them!
A Pair and A Spare, written by Geneva Vanderzeil, is a good one. Her projects are always simple and runway-focused… and I can relate to her love of all things neon. For true beginners, her “How to DIY” post is a no-miss. She’s been featured all over the place (most recently Net-a-Porter,) and also writes a weekly column for Harper’s Bazaar, Australia.
Because I’m Addicted, by Geri Hirsch, is a blog I’ve been reading since I first started reading blogs… years ago. She only recently started doing DIY posts – with pal, Sophie Monet… but man, they are good, and always so on trend. I’ve gotta make the shark tooth necklace pendant… amongst other things!
Chic Steals, by Carly J. Cais, is another very good one. Carly’s projects are fantastic (how great is this metal collar... she nailed it!) but one of the things I really love, is how she does a weekly round-up of the best DIY projects from the week.. frequently exposing me to blogs I hadn’t yet discovered on my own. Love that!
Dismount Creative, by Alicia DiRago is uber crafty. She was using polymer clay before I saw anyone else use it. Besides having amazing DIY projects, she also just launched her own business, Whimseybox, which is sort of like Birchbox for crafters. Awesome.
Glitter’n Glue, by Kristen Turner, is another very clever one. Also very runway focused, she makes me think outside the box. I loved her recent ankle strap DIY – she took glitzy bracelets and whipped up some gorgeous Nina Ricci inspired shoes. DIYs like that are precisely why I love DIY so much!!
Honestly WTF, by Erica Chan Coffman and Lauren Kolodny, never ceases to amaze me. I love that some of their projects are simple, whereas some of them (like this chainmail amazingness,) are a bit more advanced… teaching even more experiencing crafters something new! Honestly, these girls are amazing!
I Spy DIY, by Jenni Radosevich, is another good one. She was the first DIY blogger I ever met, and has recently shot to stardom in the DIY world. Her book comes out this April, and she also has a column for InStyle. My all time favorite project of hers was this fabulous tribal necklace.
Love Maegan, by Maegan Tintari, is so much more than just a DIY blog… but her projects are spectacular. Also, her nail art.. unreal. I love this blog! She’s been at it for quite some time, so her DIY Archive is robust, to say the least.
P.S. I Made This, by Erica Domesek, was one of the first DIY blogs out there. My favorite of her projects is these little vases… such a brilliant idea – don’t they look just like porcelain? Erica breaks down complex runway fashion into easy step by steps… proving further that anyone can be crafty – you just need a few tools!
Thanks, I Made It is a relative new kid on the block, and has quickly become a must-read for me. I particularly love all of her jewelry projects (she shares my love of DANNIJO jewelry… and trying to recreate it.)
There are so many other good ones… just to name a few, Studs + Pearls, Runway DIY, Make It & Fake It, In Honor of Design, and Delighted Momma… and some of my favorite fashion blogs who also do DIY projects, like Cheetah is the New Black, Court + Hudson, and Style & Pepper.
What are your favorite DIY blogs??
Agree with your top 10 and I’d put you in there too Grace x

Thanks for sharing all of these fabulous bloggers. I am always looking for DIY projects.
I love all of these!
totally love all of these though I might have to give preferential treatment today to PS I Made This since I met Erica today. She is such a total sweetheart (and of course I immediately mentioned she’s featured in this blog post today). #blognerd Amazing inspiration here. Thanks for the compilation… great resource.
Cheetah is the New Black is another good one. She does DIY a lot!
All I can say is “you read my mind. Holy crap, you read my mind”
Thanks for this great list of resources. I know what I’m doing tomorrow! 🙂
