Have you ever been professionally fitted for a bra? I’m embarrassed to say that up until a few weeks ago, I had not. I’m not even sure how I determined what my size was. I think I got my first bra years and years ago, and went up a size every time that first bra felt too tight. Now, as an adult, I’ve been wearing the same size for years and years and hadn’t given it very much thought until Chantelle Paris invited me into Saks for a professional fitting.
I was intrigued (I already was familiar with Chantelle’s lingerie – it’s really beautiful and excellent quality), but the invite made me instantly wonder whether or not I was indeed wearing the right size. Spoiler alert: I was not.
I headed to Saks and met up with Chantelle’s brand consultant, Nicole Liccardi. I was a little nervous. Was I going to need to get completely topless? (No.) Would it be weird and awkward? (No.) Of course, standing there with a stranger in just your bra is a little bit weird, but Nicole immediately put my mind at ease.
The fitting took just a minute (it turns out I was wearing one cup size too small — oops) and then we got to the fun part. Trying the bras on! Next week I’m going to tell you more about the bras I tried (and a fun contest the brand is running) but I loved everything I tried.
If you’ve never been professionally fitted, I’d definitely recommend it. It’s really important. Nicole told me that she’s had clients look like they’ve dropped 10 pounds upon finding the right size and style bra. My own bra transformation wasn’t quite as dramatic, but I definitely felt like the bras looked better on… which made me feel a lot more confident.

Chantelle is my “go-to” bra brand! I don’t know what it is about their cuts, but “the girls” thank them. The Chantelle lacy styles are so pretty, but their more basic t-shirt style bras can’t be beat — they hold up so well after many wearings and washes. Speaking of, did the pros give you any tips on how many times we should/could wear a bra before washing? This is a raging debate amongst my girlfriends!

I agree the getting professionally fitted would be a good thing but I can’t help but feel like the results would be depressing haha #ittybittytittycommittee

How about telling your friend for years that she is obviously is squashed into the wrong bra size? ( she thought wearing a size way to small would make her chest look smaller) buy a minimized girl! This is great advice Grace. I myself am quite “blessed” and it’s difficult to find my size( I don’t care for a minimizer)it’s even more important when you are larger size to get the right fit. Everyone looks better wearing the proper size bra.
hahahaha giggling at this one!!! 😉
