The Perfect Berry Lip.

bold lips 1

Every Fall, berry lips are declared a trend.  If they’re a trend every year, doesn’t that make them a classic?  I think so.  I love how berry lips look with flawless skin and three or four coats of black mascara.  (If you’re feeling extra sultry add a smoky eye like in the photo below but I would never be quite able to pull that off.)

Over the weekend, I attended a little happy hour thrown by Jacey, where I met Miss Catt.  Like a total maniac, I proceeded to completely flip out over her perfect berry lips.  She’d achieved exactly the look (see the bottom photo) that I’ve been trying to create on my own.  She graciously rummaged through her bag to tell me exactly the exact products she used.  (I promptly ordered all three products the next day.)  First, line your lips in NARS Damned, and then mix these two MAC lipsticks:  Rebel & Desire.  Done.  You’re welcome.

I also love NARS satin lip pencil in Palais Royal and Lancome Fierry Attitude.

If you’re feeling shy (as I often am) apply with a lip brush and blot… you’ll get a look more akin to the top photo.  And if you want to vamp it up, apply directly from the tube.

I’ve been itching to try a deep wine colored lip like the third picture but I’m a little nervous I’d end up looking like vampire-ish since I’m pretty pale. I guess tomorrow is the perfect day to try it! If it fails then I can just say it’s part of the Halloween spirit! 🙂

I’ve been obsessed with Berry this season, I’ve snagged at least 3 new tubes of color.

I covered “vampy” lips on my blog not too long ago: http://theprettydish.com/2013/10/22/vamp/. LOVE wine and berry-colored lips – was always afraid to try them, but I’ve been more adventurous lately! I esp. love Sonia Kashuk’s Plum Wine color. It’s perfectly soft and moisturizing, buildable, and I bet it would look great on any skin tone. Love this post! xo

These are such great inspiration! I’m always shy to wear a berry lip because my lips are so thin and I feel like it makes them look even thinner 🙁

I always try and then I feel vampy. Have to find the right shade.

Really excited to learn of the MAC combo. I’ve been having trouble finding colors dark enough that aren’t too close to black. Thanks, Grace (+Catt)!

Rebel is one of my favorites from MAC — I’ll definitely have to check out Desire!

I have been searching every where for the perfect berry lipstick. I am so pale and I don’t want everyone to stare straight at my lips because of this. I hope I find one soon! Thanks for the post.

I love this posting! I have spent the last few days pinning tips on Pinterest, looking at colors at Target, reading reviews online…..and I still can’t decide!! I am blonde, like you, I am not afraid, but want something right off the tube (not buildable) that won’t look vampy but still look great!! No problem, right??!!

I’ve been looking for a color like this! I always feel weird about wearing such a bold color but I think I need to just go for it.

Berry is the new Red!! Love it. I also love when you apply the lipstick with the tip of your finger. It looks so effortless.
