I was so excited when Milano cookies approached me about working together. First of all, I have been eating Milano cookies since I was a little girl. They were always our favorite snack as kids and I still buy them as an adult. Second, their new campaign, Save Something For Yourself is all about “me time,” which is something I feel strongly about. The average woman only gets 17 minutes of “me time”, and that is just not enough!!! I think women often feel guilty taking time for themselves, which shouldn’t be the case. It’s kind of like that oxygen mask metaphor… you have to take care of yourself before you can take care of others.
Milano is encouraging women to find ways to take a moment for themselves throughout their day.
The Importance of Me Time
As an “extroverted introvert”/ambivert, I am verrrry careful to make sure I always get enough me time, as living in New York can really take everything out of you otherwise. I have a busy, full life here and I wouldn’t trade it for anything but at the end of the day, nothing is better than a book, a face mask, and… of course… a little chocolate! If you follow my instagram stories, you may remember that few weeks ago, Milano hosted an event at The Norwood in the city to celebrate their (hysterical!) new ad campaign. Each room of the club featured highlighted a different way to get more me time. My favorite was the very last one, “Home is Where the Soft Pants Are,” which was all about unwinding at home.
Inspired by that, Carter and I filmed this fun little video which shows my favorite way to unwind – I really love how it turned out… hope you enjoy it!

How do you take a little time for yourself!? I’d love for you to share your favorite “me” time stories in the comments.
Some more thoughts here:
Never feel guilty for taking time for yourself. Even if it’s just a little break or a few deep breaths. The mind and body connection is real. By taking care of yourself, you will be better able to take care of others and/or be more effective in the workplace. I’ve always find that my work product is so much better when I am keeping a proper work life balance.
Your time can be spent a million different ways. And me time can be spent so many different ways. Maybe it’s yoga or meditation… A walk or moving your body some other way. Maybe it’s reading a book! The most important thing is to find time every 24 hours. Spending time alone, doing something small for yourself. Taking that time is so important. Find time. It will reduce your stress and kill that fight or flight instinct. Even just small amounts of time!
Photography by Carter Fish; huge thank you to Milano + Pepperidge Farm for partnering together!
Grace, you are SO lucky! I’d give anything to work with Milano cookies, they’re soooo good! Last time I got my hands on a packet, I ate the whole thing in one go. 😉

Thanks Charmaine – agreed, they are so good! 🙂
Reading before bed is my “me” time for sure. I also have been trying to have one evening each week to just play the piano after my kids go to bed. I grew up playing but when we moved 3 1/2 years ago we got rid of my old piano (it was permanently out of tune- official diagnosis).
My husband got me a digital piano for Xmas (best gift ever) and headphones so I can seriously tune out the world (and not wake up the children). It’s such an amazing stress reliever and a way to get back into something I loved growing up.
I love that! I wish I were musical. 🙂
Curious to know what you’re reading, as always! *looking eyes emoji*
Haha, well we filmed this video a while ago so I can’t remember which book exactly but right now I am reading One of Us Is Lying! xo
My favorite high school treat. My best friend Lisa and I would put a package of the mint ones in the freezer for awhile and then eat the whole thing! Although I rarely buy packaged cookies anymore, I still think Pepperidge Farms does a good job. That pop up sounds really fun! The first thing I do when I get home, besides greet my kitty, is change into my “cozies ” and slippers. My work is super social and loud! I need my me time! Love the video and those pajamas My favorite color
Thanks Cy! Sounds like we have the same kind of me time! xo
