The Best Gifts for Cats and Dogs: 2024

Best Gifts for Cats and Dogs

I firmly believe that pets absolutely count as family members, so they deserve a little gift guide of their own! I love this mix of gifts for the pets (or pet owners) in our lives. There are so many beautifully designed toys, beds, and wearables—pretty and practical. While I have you, this section of my Amazon shop has even more Tyrion + Jaime-approved cat toys and accessories.

The Best Gifts for Cats and Dogs: 2024

retractable feather wand

My cats have a lot of toys, but this is (far and away) Jaime’s favorite toy. He goes absolutely bananas for it. Just totally bonkers.

a cat scratcher bed or perch

I have never seen my cats love something as much as they love this bed. My parents have one for their cat and I thought Jaime might like it. I started with one as Tyrion has never liked cat beds, but they would fight over it. So now I have two. It is very cute seeing them curl up in their matching beds. This one is really cool too. I love the shape!

puffer dog coat

This puffer coat is so, so cute. I love the color!

dog collar

If there were any chance my cats would tolerate collars (they won’t!), I would be all over this beaded collar from Susan Alexander. It is just too fun!!!! They have a matching leash as well.

Travel Water Bottle

This flip dog travel bottle strikes the perfect balance of pretty and practical. While you’re out walking your pup, carry this along to keep her hydrated. The leak-proof design is absolutely genius!

treat Pouches

These dog treat pouches are also great for on the go! Carly’s dog George is (to use her words) OBSESSED. Her and her partner Cal discovered them through a friendin Charleston but they are all-natural ingredients and a trustworthy source for healthy treats. A great small business to support!

dog leash

A timeless, classic dog leash that will stand the test of time. The brand also sells matching collars!

dog (or cat) bed

Oh my goodness. I have been a Dusen Dusen fan forever (I love their stripes!) and think that the dog (or cat!) beds they sell at Design Within Reach are fabulous. Honestly, I’d like a human-sized one for me!

a pet bowl

I just ordered these water bowls for my cats (in green of course; Merry Christmas to them!) as they are beautiful but also: designed with flat-faced cats in mind. And, they’re heavy enough to prevent toppling.

cat cardboard cube

These cubes are so fun and cool! The perfect “cat house” that pets will love (without sacrificing aesthetics).

litter-robot

This is more of a luxury gift/something you buy for yourself, but it’s truly life-changing.,.. I could not love my litter robot more. I was fine with just one cat, but when I got Jaime, the litter scooping became a bit out of control. Now, no more scooping . . . I just empty the waste drawer once a week. For the person with multiple cats, it’s the greatest.

Just here to say that I desperately miss the personal essays/non shopping posts since they’ve moved to Substack. This blog has always been my happy place and I’m actually sad that it feels like all the personal stuff is now behind a paywall 🙁 Will continue to support how I can, but sigh…it’s sad to see such a big change in this space.

Hey Marie, Most of my substack content (including the Friday newsletter which is almost always a personal essay!) is not paywalled. I think there may be some confusion about what is and is not paywalled. It has moved, but literally, 90% of the content is free (it does go behind a paywall after two months). I have to adjust with the times. When I publish it to Substack, it reaches a much larger audience than the blog. To have my content go straight to folks’ inbox has been invaluable.

I’m actually creating WAY more (free!) content, it’s just divided between here and Substack.
