Summer Pampering Edit

Something about me is that I take a bath multiple nights a week, even when it is very hot. I love a bath – it is my number one way to wind down after a long day. My primary bathroom has a rain shower, which I love. The guest bath has a shower and a standard tub that does the job. But I am sometimes a little bit jealous when I see these gorgeous homes with spacious bathtubs.

My skin becomes a lot less dry in the summer (thank you humidity) so hydration is not as much as a concern as usual. During the winter, I go through Kate McLeod’s breathe pebbles like water (it’s a problem for me!) as they smell heavenly and leave my skin super hydrated). I love the eucalyptus scent so so much – use code GRACE20 for a discount.

My Current Bathtime Lineup:

In the summer, I become more of a salts (vs. oils) girl. Flewd’s bath soaks had been following me around on Facebook ads for a while and I’m so glad I took the bait. They are amazing – I ordered a big box and it’s been worth every penny. I like to use a full packet per bath but I’m sure you could get away with splitting a packet over two baths. The insomnia one is my favorite but I love them all. I recommend trying out the stresscare trio and seeing which one you love most. There is literally a bath soak for every ailment: insomnia, anxiety, aches & pains, feeling sad, feeling panicky… etc.

The other more luxurious bath salts I really love are these from Saint Jane. The salts contain CBD and Magnesium, making them very ideal for bedtime. In terms of actual results (a better night sleep) I would choose the Flewd (you literally sweat and then drift away to bed) but it’s nice to have a bit of variety. My own “bedtime ritual” when I want my most luxurious night of sleep is that I will do all of my evening chores (feed the cats etc.) before bedtime, and then soak for 15-20 minutes. With the Flewd one you do really sweat so I can’t handle much longer than the recommended 15. I will then towel off, moisturize, put on my PJs, make my magnesium drink, and go straight to bed. Do not pass go. I find that this really maximizes the sleep benefits of the soak.

On more of a budget? I LOVE these magnesium flakes. The bag is big. Like really big… eight pounds! Epsom salts are great too but I find that magnesium is really incredible for stress and sleep. A few handfuls of these plus a few drops of your favorite essential oil (I’ve been very into neroli lately) makes for a super luxurious bath and a very good night of sleep.

Also: do not sleep on this bath pillow. It is absolute heaven, especially if you are like me and love to read in the tub. The quickest way to make a mediocre bathtub setup feel much more luxe.

frozen toner pads
The Freezer Department:

While I still love my baths, I am also just lovvvvving anything cold. It feels good on the skin but also helps with puffiness. Of course ice rolling is my favorite thing. I do it every morning. It is majorly helpful for puffiness. I wrote a longer post about the benefits of ice rolling and genuinely believe it is one of the best and most affordable things you can do for your skin. I really like this cute little ice roller if you are in the market for a new one. The size is just right and the ridges line up nicely with the contours of the face (jaw, cheekbones, etc).

On shoot days or if I have a fancy event or something, I love doing one of these chin strap masks + these awesome brightening undereye masks (I keep both products in the fridge for maximum coolness). The combination of these two masks + ice rolling makes a HUGE difference.

The Clarins Cryo Mask is amazing. Their depuffing mask was always my favorite but… the cryo mask is my number one these days! It really is just so amazing at cooling you down, tightening up pores, and eliminating any puffiness. Lastly on the cold stuff, I was gifted these frozen toner pads and love them so far. I’ve only used them twice but they feel amazing on my skin. Super soothing!

little ice roller | Summer Pampering Edit
I really love this little ice roller
Masque Vivant:

I have a love hate relationship with this mask (it is expensive and it smells really terrible) but I repurchase it again and again as it really does do such wonderful things for my skin. It deep cleans the skin which I love during the season of sweat and sunscreen but it also has anti-aging benefits. As someone who identifies as more dry skinned I thought this would be too purifying for my skin but it’s perfect. I try to use it at least once a week. Here in Charleston I buy it in person at Spa Azure (they have a location downtown and stock the full range of Biologique products) but you can also buy it online from a few different retailers – I’d recommend Rescue Spa as I trust them to only sell authentic products, etc. etc.

Other stuff:

I am really trying to do my red light mask every day. The time that makes the most sense for me is after showering (before serums, etc.). I don’t always make the time but when I do my skin is glowier and I also just feel happier and more relaxed.

There are a lot of red light masks out there on the market and I have not tried very many (that would be expensive) but I love mine and it’s held up really well since I got it back in November. I love that I also get a mini scalp and face massage while I do it. A treat!!!

Biodance sheet masks

And these sheet masks are kind of a pain but they are amazing and SO well priced. I say a pain just because I hate sleeping in them. (To be clear, hate it but it’s worth it!) I like to apply them a couple hours before bed. That way if I rip it off in the middle of the night (this happens a lot) it’s been on my face for a solid 6-8 hours. They leave your skin super plumped up and glowy. It’s actually remarkable and the results last a few days. A must after long flights!

I love seasonal self-care switch-ups. My summers are so stressful at work that I need a little extra pampering. It’s too hot where I live to enjoy a bath, so I rely on refreshing body and minty scalp scrubs in the shower to feel less dull from all the sun, sunscreen and sweat. Ahh. I can’t wait to lounge in my robe and read later tonight.
