One of my favorite rainy day activities (maybe I’m thinking of rainy days as today is a bit wretched in New York) is trolling Pinterest and my favorite street style blogs for style inspiration. My personal style is pretty classic and basic (not that kind of basic – I hate pumpkin spice lattes, I swear!) but the incredible women featured on these sites inspire me to push my own dress code a bit more than I usually would… teaching me how to maybe wear something oversized or perhaps how to wear a bold print without looking like an insane person.
Naturally, when I found out that Christene Barberich and Piera Gilardi (the co-founders and editor-in-chief + creative director respectively of Refinery 29) were writing a book, I got pretty excited. What I love most is that the book isn’t just straight street style images, but it will be jam-packed with easy how-to’s and clever tips + tricks. It’s out on 10/21, and you can pre-order your own copy here.
From Christene + Piera:
“For a whole tribe of fashion freaks out there — present company included! — the goal of getting dressed every morning isn’t just to look prettier, taller, or slimmer. It’s to challenge conventions, banish the old style rules, and, ultimately, push the limits of our closets far beyond our wildest dreams. In our book (which we mean literally), we celebrate personal style in all its facets and decode how an outfit can speak volumes about the gal wearing it. To us, street style isn’t just a Fashion Week phenomenon, but a full-blown movement to wear what you love, look amazing doing it, and share a knowing nod with your peers out there doing it, too. So, if your inclination is to pair a full-length evening gown with platform creepers and a silk bomber, we say GO FOR IT — you’re speaking our language.”
Refinery29 is doing a prize for pre-purchases too here http://goo.gl/2Fqq2D

These street style bloggers inspire me too! They have an incredible taste in clothing. Also, they are masters of combining colors.
