Something Different.

So, this isn’t all that different in the grand scheme of things, but it is for me. Flare jeans. I’d been meaning to try out a pair, but kept getting a bit intimidated by them. For one, they remind me of high school, and for another, I worried they’d make me look wide. More recently, two of my girlfriends (Liz + Fran) wore cute outfits involving flares which made me remember the pair of black flare jeans (a gift from NYDJ that had been sitting in my closet unworn since last March). And so I whipped them out for this post… only to find myself very surprised!

As it turns out (I guess?) I can pull off flares better than I thought… they ended up being so much more flattering than I’d expected. My legs are my skinniest part so I usually play them up, favoring short-ish skirts/dresses, and always skinny jeans… Alas, I really like how they look and think I’ll be wearing these over and over again. I don’t know how they will look but I want to try a white pair for Spring. We’ll see… stay tuned on that front.

Did you watch the Oscars? I watched it with two of my girlfriends and had so much fun tweeting along… So happy that Leo won!!!

Two more things to note!

ONE // I’ve made it a (rather unfortunate) habit of stalking the Sweet & Spark Instagram account. They typically post the best new arrivals there, and I like to swoop in and buy them! I had to have this necklace. The bigger vintage squash blossom necklaces (like this one) can cost over $1,000 because they are so massive + use so much silver and turquoise… so I really loved this pared down version and felt lucky to snag it. It’s cool and chic without being over the top (or crazy expensive) and I’ve been getting quite a bit of use out of it!! You can get the look over at BaubleBar… they have a ton of amazing squash blossom stuff… right here!

TWO //  I wanted to talk more about this top as it’s so fab, but it was so cold out! I’ll be wearing it again once things warm up but it has the cutest criss-cross back.  It’s from my friend Jess’s new collection and so cute… + it’s made from a lightweight chambray material that has a nice drape. Jess did such a great job with this season… be sure to check out her full lookbook here!

I like the cut of your trench coat and the colour is perfect. I have been loving camel and beige.

I really like that coat, and that necklace is so cute! If I start stalking Sweet & Spark I might spend too much, but thanks for the tip!

    Once again, this coat <3

ALSO, I had a pretty good feeling about Leo this year. I never watch the Oscars – just follow the highlights on Twitter. But, I had a feeling Leo would win this year and I wanted to be there to watch him win it LIVE. AND – HE – DID. SLAY LEO. SLAY 🙂

PS: Kate x Leo forever lmao. They are so cute.

It has to be said. You look good in this outfit. A lot of times you wear things that you only look ok in. Those twee dresses that you always wear don’t make you look your best. They are ok but not the most flattering of styles. I get that it’s you personal style but this outfit on the other hand is a nice refreshing change because it makes you look tall and slim and most importantly it is truly is flattering
