I am going to try to be better about doing a monthly beauty round-up over here. I try so many products and am fascinated by the industry (especially when it comes to natural products)… Most of you know that prior to BaubleBar, I spent eight years working in the beauty biz… I’ll always be a bit of a beauty obsessive… I often just forget to share my discoveries over here. I tried a bunch of great things this month (and found myself reaching for a few old faves) so here they are!
One Love Organics’ Vitamin E Eye Balm is a recent rediscovery. I’ve loved it for a long, long time but had somehow forgotten about it. My skin has been so dry (I had this weird gross dry patch under my eye – ew) and this provided instant relief + softening. It contains vitamins A, D & E + antioxidants and is crazy hydrating. You only need the tiniest amount. I rub it between my fingers first and then gently apply to the undereye area… it instantly melts into your skin… hydrating, lifting, and plumping!
I already went on and on (here) about how much I love this concealer/powder duo from Laura Mercier but I just can’t get over how magical it is… it holds everything you need (lighter concealer for under your eyes, darker for red spots, + loose powder). I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup, but I love this because it basically has everything I need in one tiny little place. It really is a secret agent product.
Leila Lou is the prettiest fragrance. It smells exactly like Spring, which is a funny thing to want to smell like during the Fall but the pretty scent makes me happy. It smells of pear, jasmine, and fresh cut grass… sweet, but not too sweet. If you want a vacation but can’t go on one, try this!
I rediscovered this Clarins Scrub earlier in the month when my skin was doing weird things (I don’t know what happened but during fashion week, my skin was suddenly so tight + dry, from head to toe… horrible.) A few scrubs with this and my skin was back to normal. I really like this scrub as isn’t at all greasy… and the consistency is thinner than other body scrubs. It works into a lather and leaves your skin feeling really clean + smooth.
It’s a little hilarious how much I love Laura Mercier’s Violet Eyeliner because I can be really boring about makeup. I rarely wear color on my eyes.. ever. If I do eyeliner or shadow it’s always a neutral. I received a miniature of it in a gift bag and didn’t expect to like it (I keep my makeup so, so minimal except for my lips!) but somehow it works… adding a tiny bit of color. The hue is nothing crazy, it’s just really pretty. I’m thinking violet eyeliner may be my Fall look. That, a glossy nude lip, and glowy radiant skin? YES.
Before I left for my sister’s wedding, L’Oreal Professionnel sent a stylist to my apartment for an at-home blow out… (such an amazing treat during a stressful week). My stylist used this styling cream from their line and I was (literally, haha) blown away – its technology actually uses heat to fuse together your split ends. By the end of my blow out, my split ends were gone. completely gone. Of course the results are not permanent… but it makes for a great quick fix in between cuts! Besides the zero split end factor, it left my hair super soft + smelling amazing.
You all know how much I love Tata Harper’s products by now (fanatical might be the proper word?), but I ended up buying this face wash and just love it so, so much. It doesn’t foam, but gently exfoliates, getting skin clean + glowy without overdrying. It’s pricy for a face wash but you only need a tiny amount to get your skin clean, and the quality of her ingredients is always top notch. (Sidebar: I am presently testing out her new Fall launches and can’t wait to share those with you!)
I received a sample of this Laura Mercier body cream when I ordered some of their other products and died a little bit when I smelled it. So yummy. A friend told me I smelled like a cupcake, but it’s a little more complex than that. I got so many compliments on the scent, so I think I am going to buy the full sized version next. It’s packed with good for you nutrients and emollients (shea butter, illipe butter, grapeseed oil and jojoba) and left my skin feeling like butter.
Sisley Rose Mask is another product I’ve already talked about here but I’ve recently picked it up again and have been using it at least once a week before bedtime. As I mentioned earlier, my skin has been really, really dry.. so this helps regulate a bit. I love that you don’t wash it off… You apply a generous layer, leave on for 10-15 minutes and then tissue it off. It helps with hydration but also leaves skin looking smoother, a bit more lifted and more radiant.
Bite Beauty’s Cashmere Lip Cream is an amazing product. The colors are incredible (Sherry is my favorite.. it’s the perfect red-orange) and the cream to powder formula goes on velvety smooth + wears forever. But the best part is that the formula is all natural… truly good enough to eat! The formula contains 4x the average level of pigments so the colors are really vibrant + intense. I don’t really understand how it works, I think it might be magic. I can’t wait to try more shades… kinda want to collect them all!
Great picks! We heart Tata, One Love and Rosie Jane too!
Thanks for sharing! I’m definitely going to go try the cashmere lip – i’ve been looking for a nice color.
Warm Regards,
Alexandra

That eyeliner would look great with a smokey purple eye look!
On the market for a new toner. Any recommendations?
Hi Marissa! I actually don’t regularly use toner as my skin is already so dry… but I have tried SW Basics’ toner and liked it a lot… + it’s 100% natural which I love. http://store.swbasicsofbk.com/products/toner
