Scenes from the Weekend: NYC

It was a long but fun weekend.  Of course I was a stress-case the whole time, but all in all, it was a lot of fun and my sister’s party went well.
On Friday (the night before the party!) my mom and I ventured over to my sister & her fiance’s new apartment in Brooklyn.  It was a bit of a hike from the city, but absolutely gorgeous.  I guess I understand why people move to Brooklyn now… more space, cute brownstones, lower rents.
(The delicious – and gluten-free pasta shrimp dish that my sister’s fiance prepared for us.)
(Naturally, quite a bit of wine was consumed.)
(The amazeballs chocolate & peanut butter dessert that he made.  He claimed that it was easy and that he just “whipped it up…  riiiiiiggght.  This would probably take me a whole day to make.)
(On Saturday morning, I discovered an amazing new cupcake shop… City Cakes.  It’s on 18th Street, between 7th & 8th.  In addition to the traditional, they have more creative flavors like Salted Caramel.  Heavenly.)

(Presents and flowers…)

(Cupcakes.  By way of Glitter Guide, I found the cutest ever Etsy shop…  it specializes in handmade cupcake toppers, which sell for a mere $3.20 per set!  The pink glitter is amazing, but I also got blue & white polka dots.  The owner is incredibly sweet; when I told her the toppers were for my sister’s bachelorette party, she rushed the order to get here in time!)
(On Sunday night, I finally had a chance to make the Honestly WTF wrap bracelets.  So easy.  I whipped up these two while watching True Blood.)
