Wardrobe Superheroes.

It’s really important to have pieces in your wardrobe that will under no circumstances, ever let you down. The sort of things you can reach for when you have a big event or presentation, a date you’re really excited for… basically any time when you know you are going to be out of your comfort zone. Having pieces like that, “wardrobe superheroes” if you will is so important. They don’t have to be expensive or overly fancy – they just need to make you feel good. One of those items for me is this little black dress. You’ve seen it here before – I originally featured it last May in this post… but over a year later it’s still one of the dresses I reach for the most. (I know re-wearing items, especially dresses, can be a little bit boring, but this blog is about real life and I want to show you how/when I wear things over and over again!!)

A few weeks ago, I attended a breakfast presentation down at the Prada store in Soho. They were unveiling the new mens’ + womens’ fragrances. For some reason I was really, really stressed about what to wear. I went through every dress in my closet and when I passed this dress I knew exactly what I was going to wear. I literally breathed a sigh of relief. It’s just such a great dress, and also it looks great with flats which is important especially now that I have a bigger commute into the city.

Other pieces that I consider to be (major) wardrobe superheroes? My Saint Laurent Tribute Sandals (they make me so tall… but I can still walk in them all night without sore feet)… a black Gucci dress that my ex bought me a million years ago, my Burberry trench (it’s like my superhero cape, maybe?), this inexpensive tunic (in white) that hides all sins and magically looks good with everything I pair it with, and my Clare V leopard pouch. And come to think of it, the earrings I’m wearing here. They go with everything and everyone asks if they are vintage.

PS – my flats are on sale! Go get them, they are amazing and 60% off.

My wardrobe superhero is definitely my little black dress. I love the phrase, by the way!

I don’t think reposting dresses is boring! If anything I like it better than newnewnew all the time bc it gives me ideas of how to restyle my pieces! You look great 🙂

I love having two black sweaters and one black dress as my wardrobe superheroes. I am always looking to add to that.
