Summer Beauty: Reversing the Damage

Summer-Recovery1

While most people I know were out and about this weekend, packing in one last summer adventure, I stayed at home… opting for a little bit of pampering, a lot of me time, and some necessary time to just breathe and be still.  Sometimes you just need to take care of yourself, and that is exactly what I did.  I took some baths, put on a hair mask, did an at home facial, exfoliated, self-tanned, saw a few girlfriends, watched the entire season 2 of Girls.  Wild and crazy, I tell you.  But that’s just what I needed.

As many of you saw (and asked about on Instagram) I tried Pantene’s new Keragloss oil mist.  I’m impressed.  It’s strong enough to give your hair great shine, repair damage and make hair look healthier… but it’s also lightweight so it doesn’t make my hair greasy.  Despite cutting 4 inches off six weeks ago and another 4 inches two weeks ago, my hair remains fried.  Too many blow-outs, not enough conditioner.  This helps.  My split ends were MUCH less noticeable upon using it and my hair feels soft (not crispy – yuck.)

I met up with my fabulous friend Alex for a coffee and girl talk at Joe.  We tried to go for a walk but got caught in the rain, so ended up back at my apartment.

I spent an entire night to myself, reading the September issue of Vogue.  While I did this, I had a little pampering time too.  I exfoliated (using my trusty cheetah Clarisonic on my face) and then used this amazing “I Need to Heal” face mask (these masks are seriously awesome, BTW) as well as Dr. Dennis Gross’s face + body Alpha Beta Glow Pads.  I might not have been at the beach but my skin looks glowy and well-rested… that’s what counts, right?  😉

And lastly, we’ve talked about them before, but I just adore Elizabeth Dehn’s products for One Love Organics.  Nothing makes me feel more refreshed and pampered than washing my face with her Vitamin B Cleansing Oil…. and misting my skin throughout the day with the Vitamin D Mist.

There you have it… what steps are you adding to your beauty routine to prepare for Fall?

Your night o’ beauty sounds amazing. I usually just moisturize like crazy during fall/winter but I need to step up my cold weather beauty regime this year! I have yet to read the September Vogue…maybe this next weekend. xoxo

After a hot and dry summer, skin and hair suffer a lot. I agree that fall is a nice time to restore your beauty before the cold season. But I also prefer to consume vitamins to restore beauty from inside.

Everyone needs some me time, bonus points if me time includes pampering. Once fall hits I try and switch my body lotion to a heavier & thicker lotion, gotta stay moisturized.
