Recipe: Almond Milk Caramel Macchiato.

I like my coffee two ways. Completely black, or like a dessert. It’s one or the other, no middle ground. In the interest of being healthier, I usually just drink it black, but every now and then I want something special. Today’s recipe is for those days… it’s completely scrumptious! I used Nespresso’s newest “Swiss Chocolate” coffee, which is a Limited Edition and available for the holidays to create a super yummy caramel macchiato of sorts. I personally really love it with almond milk (and make my own… instructions below) but you can use any kind of milk.

I’ve said it before but I am completely in love with my new Nespresso machine (and their “Experience a cup above” campaign… hiiii George Clooney!) I’ve had a lot of fun entertaining (it’s so nice being able to offer my guests a shot of espresso at the end of a party) and creating fun recipes like this one. The Evoluo would make the perfect holiday gift for the coffee connoisseur… I use mine every. single. day.

You’ll need…

To prep, start by making your own almond milk. As I mentioned before, this is not necessary (you can totally use regular milk or buy almond milk from the grocery store), but I really like making my own. I take a cup of raw almonds and soak them overnight. The next day, I add the one cup of almonds to three cups of water and blend on high in my Vitamix. I then strain the mix, and voila… fresh, homemade almond milk. If you own a high speed blender, you should give it a try as it’s easy and so healthy.

Add about a tablespoon of Salted Caramel Syrup to your mug. I am obsessed with Coop’s… I found it at a local shop in the city and fell in love. It’s also great over ice cream too. You can also make your own… recipe here!

Brew a cup of Nespresso Swiss Chocolate… and stir.

Using your Aeroccino, froth up some (2-3 oz.) almond milk…

Fill to the top of your mug and you are done! Enjoy.

Haha, I totally feel you on coffee two ways. In general, I try to stay away from caffeine because I’m really sensitive (especially try to stay away from it after 12pm) but when I have it I like the pretty, tasty ones best.

I love drinking it black if I have it paired right after cheese. Seriously. Try it! Changes the taste of both.
