I always say that living in New York (or anywhere really!), you really just need three things to look put together. A great coat, a nice bag, and a good pair of sunglasses. You could literally pair these three things with sweatpants and no one would ever notice.
Amongst other things (most importantly, protecting that delicate eye area); a great pair of sunglasses can transform your look entirely, make you look instantly more sophisticated, and hide the fact that you a) aren’t wearing any makeup or b) had a late night the evening before. What would we do without them!? Today I have teamed up with my friends at Ray-Ban to style two of my most favorite pairs of sunglasses… a classic wayfarer + a modern, mirrored aviator.
I’ve been a big Ray-Ban fan for years now (who isn’t!?) but love all the new, exciting things they have been doing (for example, have you seen their personalization feature? You can customize nearly every part of the sunglasses (style, lenses, materials, front, temples, size, + even the case color) AND add a personalized message to the inner part or the external side of the temples. So cool. Whether you go with a monogram or something more personal/sentimental, they’d make for the perfect gift.
There’s nothing like a classic wayfarer. They literally go with everything (they look chic + cool with a party dress, great with athleisure, and perfectly compliment jeans and a tee). A pair of wayfarers is like the white t-shirt of sunglasses… it’s classic, foolproof, and will never go out of style. You cannot look bad wearing wayfarers. I am wearing the original wayfarer classic here but I am also coveting a fold-up pair – folding sunglasses feel very James Bond + I love how little room they take up… you could keep them in a coat pocket or even a tiny clutch. I also really love Ray-Ban’s leather wayfarers… I’d never seen leather sunglasses before and think that these are just so cool!
In my everyday life I tend to stick to wayfarers or cat-eyes (the main reason being that they are more durable) but I also love a good pair of aviators… especially if they are mirrored. Ray-Ban’s flash lenses are available in twelve different colors… everything from classic metallics to quirkier choices like orange and green). I personally adore this copper pair as the lenses are ultra-reflective, + the silhouette is kind of badass… but then, they look like rose gold so they are also a bit girly!
The rest of what I’m wearing! Banana Republic Coat (c/o) // Paper Crown Sequin Jacket (c/o) // Banana Republic Velvet Camisole (c/o) // Good American Jeans // EACH Jewels Necklace // Chanel Purse // J.Crew Factory Pumps
