Pretty Pearl Things.

Pretty Pearl Things

I really resisted the pearls trend at first. It felt too girly and sweet for me. Maybe it’s Charleston, or maybe I’ve just been worn down, but lately I cannot get enough. It started with earrings, and then a pair of slides… now I’m almost always wearing something pearl. If you’re nervous about pearls I would say to mix them up with edgier (or even more bohemian) pieces to keep the look from feeling saccharine. Cutoffs. A sharply tailored blazer. A bohemian maxi-dress.

Pretty Pearl Things

A good starting point could be some fun statement earrings (might I suggest these?)

Or maybe a sweater with pearl buttons. I just got – and love – this oversized boyfriend cardigan and I’m thinking about this beautiful delicate one next.

On the splurge front, I copied Blair on this bag and it makes such a fun statement… it’s probably my most complimented piece right now.

I love the pretty little pearl buttons on this top and it just got marked down. Such a pretty color, too!

On the save front, I just bought this $13 purse strap. I think that this is such a genius idea (and a way to try out the trend on something you already own. I also love this tiny $26 pearl purse. I’d probably take the strap off as I think it looks a little cheap.

And this $10 headband is another fun but inexpensive way to try out the trend. I am a little bit tired of the big statement headbands (I sold all of mine before I moved!) but I still love a skinny headband to keep my flyaways pushed back without a lot of drama.

I love how pearls come and go in fashion, but are always classic. There will be years when I don’t wear them, but I am so glad about the jewelry pieces I’ve invested in, both freshwater and cultivated. And because I mostly wear black, I feel like pearls can soften a look and make me feel more feminine when I want to.

I just love the look of pearls. I have a beautiful classic one strand pearl necklace from my Oma “grandmother in German” that I am definitely going to start wearing thanks to your post! I really like to read your blog and always get some wonderful information and ideas! Thank you!

Hey Grace! I’ve been hunting around to see if I could find a link to the baroque earrings you’ve been wearing in stories recently, but haven’t been able to find one anywhere. Would you mind sharing a source?
