Once upon a time, I was a terrible traveler. I liked to think I was a pro, but in reality I was… a junior varsity traveler. Five years later, things have changed considerably. I check my miles & status compulsively. I never, ever check my bag… even for ten day trips. I look back and think about the days when I traveled with an oversized leopard roll on bag that needed to be checked everywhere and I cringe. Today, things are different. Beauty products are carefully consolidated into my ML Traveler Bag and liquids go into my Truffle Pouch. I always have a book and an ipad or laptop full of my favorite shows. For weekend travel, I use my Cuyana Overnight Bag and on long trips, I take my Tumi Carry On. I breeze through security and fancy myself quite the travel expert.
But my travel skills pale in comparison to my friend Hitha. Hitha is a travel ninja and by comparison, I’m a simple travel apprentice. If you travel often, or even just a little, her blog is a must-read. It’s packed with invaluable tips + tricks, and yes… stuff you need for travel. It was through Hitha that I learned about Perpetual Shade.
Note that I do not own one of these eye masks yet. But I did get to try one on (I was lucky enough to get to meet the founder, Sasha, at Hitha’s recent birthday party and proceeded to interrogate her over cocktails.) These eye masks are the best. Hitha swears by hers, but what is so great about it is that it fits snugly without being too tight; and the surface area of the mask covers every crevice so no light gets in. The 100% silk lining does not hurt either. I feel a little silly going on and on about an eye mask, but this is a good one. And so fashionable too… the color combinations are to die for. (The gold and floral are my personal favorites.)
I’m not going to tell you that you need one of these masks. You surely do not. But let’s be honest, this blog is not really about the things you need. And besides, it will make travel… or even everyday sleep a whole lot more glamourous.
Hitha is the travel god! LOVE her and I’m loving these fun eye masks! I admit, I’m a terrible traveler, but little tips like this are always fun to pick up!

Um, nicest compliment EVER. Thank you cathy!
I always wanted an eye mask, but when I got one for myself it turned out it really bothers me while sleeping 😀 Too bad, as there is so many pretty ones 🙂

I used to be the worst traveler. I remember struggling with two massive suitcases for my honeymoon and feeling so tired from having to move them around. Then, I started traveling for work and my travel life became strictly carry-on. I’m not where near Hitha’s league, but I’m good enough that I now impress my husband with my packing skills.

Functional and fashionable. Can’t beat that! I may just have to pick one of these up for my next trip. Thanks for sharing.

A Hint of Life
I love a good eye mask. I had one that looked just like Audrey Hepburn’s in Breakfast at Tiffany’s that got me through college…this looks like a nice upgrade 😉
Obsessed with these sleep masks! Thanks so much for sharing…

OMG – I travel a lot and an eye mask is a MUST. I don’t really use them for sleeping on planes (because, sadly that is hopeless for me), but I use them compulsively when I’m in hotels and/or staying at other people’s houses. You just never know what the light situation is going to be in the mornings and they definitely help you kick jet lag in the butt!
While I don’t have one of these, I do travel with an eye mask and ear plugs for every trip and they’re a HUGE life saver.
Hitha knows her shit, and this is an awesome find! Even just for home when all the other eye masks still get the light in. I also desperately need a better carry-on; need to start stalking Tumi sales to pick up one of those bags.

Okay, I’ve always wanted a fancy sleep mask like this and I’ve definitely had a few when I was younger (from Claire’s) and thought I was fabulous and chic. I could USE one of these, desperately, since the sun shines through my window aggressively on mornings. These are SO cute, I’m obsessed.

These eye masks are lovely and very chic! While this pair (http://amzn.to/1pceMgA) is decidedly *less* fashion-forward, I found them to be a lifesaver on a trip to Hong Kong. My husband has been traveling to India for work and I actually ordered a pair for one of his colleagues for their last trip since they’ve been so great for us. You feel a bit like a fly (I am really selling these, right?!), but supposedly the bowed-out eye shape allows for REM sleep. And once they are on, I don’t have to see them, nor do I care about who sees me! Zzzzz.
My mom has always sworn by eye masks on planes (and has the TWA-logo’d ones from her “stewardess” days to prove it), but I can’t stand the feel of them on my face. It’s a shame, because they always look so chic- especially these!
They look sooooo cool!
Love them!
Cheers
