I picked up Parisian Chic, by Ines de la Fressange last April and keep going back to it, like a textbook. So much amazing outfit inspiration and tips and tricks for dressing French (pretty much my goal in life.)
One of my favorite parts of the book is Chapter Two, The Not-so-Basics. She refers to these pieces as the “Magnificent Seven.” The non-negotiable items that everyone must own, the essentials to chic, Parisian Style. I thought it would be fun to do a little series around each of these items. The first Not-so-Basic? The Blazer! She advises with going with a masculine style, in a classic shade like navy or black… and pairing it with your most feminine + fun pieces. Below are a few favorites of mine – and how to wear them.
From top left: LAVEER Kadette Blazer, Helmut Lang Blazer, Lioness Palermo Blazer, Theory Edition Four Dief Blazer, SMYTHE One Button Blazer, GRACE MMXIII Satin-Trimmed Wool Blazer, Lauren Ralph Lauren Sweater Blazer, J.Crew Rhodes Blazer
I really believe that everyone should own a copy of Parisian Chic. Pick one up for yourself, for your sister, for your best friend. It’s so worth it. In the meantime, on Friday, we’ll discuss Not-so-Basic #2… The Trench!
