I am so excited because next week I am going to Cartagena with three of my friends! We rented an Air BnB for 5 nights/6 days (will share the details after our trip) and I’m looking forward to some sunshine, sangria, and snorkeling. Here is a little peek at what I am packing. Everything featured here I have bought (or in a few instances, noted below) was gifted to me so it’s all things I can personally vouch for. I NEVER check a bag but am doing so for this trip as I had so many fun things I wanted to pack (and this way I’ll be able to bring full size liquids – tracking down sunscreen when you travel is always a pain!)
A few highlights. You may remember I have this dress in black and I’m soooo in love with it in pink! The black one is one of my favorite pieces (I reach for it whenever I’m not sure what to wear so I was thrilled to add another color of it to my closet). And there are no words for how much I love this yellow dress. Bright yellow is my favorite color at the moment and this particular shade looks so good on blondes. (I can’t wear mustard yellow to save my life but lemon yellow? Give me all of it.) The back is amazing so I will be sure to get some fun photos of it for the blog. And I cannot even talk about this beaded purse. It reminds me of something I would have had as a child. And this dress is such a good deal (and so cute) at only $78. On the beauty front I will bring my usual stuff but definitely lots of sunscreen and an old favorite but a good one… Dior Lip Glow in Coral. It’s the perfect vacation lip balm… it looks so good with a spray tan (planning on getting one of those before I go… I’m so pale!!!)
Oh also! I don’t know if anyone else has a freakishly long torso too (I can never find one pieces that fit properly) but this one is perfection!!!
Have you been to Cartagena? If so, I would LOVE any and all recommendations, pretty please!!!

Thanks Em! And agree – it’s the best dress!!!
Sweetheart tan on Broadway in Williamsburg is the greatest. I got a spray tan there before my vacation last week and it looked very natural / lasted a long time! And, look, a recommendation for somewhere I’ve actually been:)
THANK YOU! I’m going to go on Tuesday!!!
I was just in Cartagena last week and wished you had gone before so I could have your recs, ha! There is a store I think you´d love called St. Dom. Also make sure you check out Getesemani outside the walled city, it´s considered the Williamsburg of Cartagena. There are tons of cool restaurants there too, my favorite might have been La Mulata or Demente. I love seeing these huge buildings and walking in and there are these gorgeous open courtyards with palm trees. I can´t wait to see your content!
Thank you so much for the suggestions!!! xx
Hi Grace! Haven’t been to Cartagena in a few years, and not sure where you are staying, but you will LOVE Old Town. You will definitely see the Spanish influence &, first time I went there, it reminded me of walking through the streets of Seville. Although it might sound cheesy /touristy, take a ride on one of the horse-drawn carriages at night. Finish off with some drinks in the central plaza. We also did a day tour through one of the old fortessses nearby. Not sure if this is still the case, but there were lots of aggressive vendors outside some hotels and at the beach. Fingers crossed, they have cracked down in that. Not scary or threatening, but they were annoying. One of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s homes was right along one of the main streets in Old Town. Enjoy your trip … you might want to pick up one of the “casitas” made by local artisans. They are little veranda-like knicknacks to hang up as decor on your walls. I have a collection in my entry way & everyone who visits comments on them.
Thank you so much, Marty! xx
Perfect timing! We’re leaving for Puerto Morelos, Tulum and Isla Mujeres in less than 24 hours!!
Just a couple notes re: the sunscreen — most importantly, just for everyone in general, PLEASE use reef-safe sunscreen! (Goop is reef-safe btw).
And from an aggravation standpoint, I wouldn’t recommend checking bottles of spray sunscreen. I never check a bag either, but did last year to make it easier to take our snorkeling gear and big bottles of sunscreen. Unfortunately, all that nice pricey sunscreen ended up exploding all over my nice bag, messing up clothing, and otherwise being a huge pita. Needless to say, this year, I’m not even gonna bother checking. Lucky for me, my man’s idea of grooming is a bar of soap and a toothbrush, so I get two quart size bags!
Enjoy Cartagena! It’s on my next year list. Can’t wait to see what all you do!!
Oh my gosh thanks for the tip! Spray on is my preference and I never would have known this as I NEVER CHECK A BAG! Haha!
I’ve been lusting over those J.Crew bow sandals too! Can’t wait to see how you style them!

Plesae suggest other sources for one piece long torso swimsuits, not tankini’s.
