Our Podcast is Live! (+ A Cute Outfit)

Oh wow friends. This has been (to use my friend Mackenzie’s wording) a real rose and a thorn of a week. I’ve been sick AND my phone is broken. Both are long stories and I won’t bore you with whining and my apparent ineptitude at both  life and technology. Instead I will share some REALLY GOOD NEWS. Our podcast is finally live in iTunes! I am so excited about this! We are still figuring out how to get it on Spotify and Stitcher all the other stuff (again, technically inept) but it will be there soon.

What’s the podcast about? Books, duh! And life and self care and advice and all that… every other week we will discuss a new (bad but good) YA novel and on the weeks in between we will answer reader questions and give advice! What inspired the podcast is that Becca (one of my best friends + old BaubleBar coworker) and I are both in our thirties and both love love love young adult books so much – as do so many of our friends. So we’re taking our guilty pleasure public (I mean, I’ve been writing about my love of bad books here for a while so it isn’t anything new but you know what I mean). It isn’t jussst about bad books though. We’ll also talk about the good books we’re reading, the smart books we’re reading, and in every episode answer a few questions and also talk about other stuff (favorite instagram accounts, beauty products, all the things).

Our first episode is really just an introduction to us and how/what we like to read. About us, how we met, the best books we read this year, our thoughts on kindle vs. paper books, and so on and so forth. We also announce our first book (which we’ll talk about in next week’s episode). New episodes every Wednesday, I hope you enjoy! (We’ve started an instagram account for the podcast as well as a Facebook group, and would love for you to follow/join/subscribe/etc!)

Outfit Details: Free People Open Weave Sweater // Heidi Wynne Scarf // American Eagle Jeans // Vince Warren Sneakers // Strathberry Bag (c/o) // Free People Sunglasses // Julie Vos Bangles (c/o)

I do need to just tell you how happy these sunglasses make me. I had been looking for a red pair for entirely too long. I wanted a pair that was opaque, big enough to fit my face (I have a big face and 90% of sunglasses look terrible on me!) , and not too expensive. At $25, these are just perfect. And while I was there I also bought this cozy knit sweater. I layered it over a black tank here but I think it will be fun to experiment layering over dresses (and knotting it) in the summer). pairing it with cutoffs, or even just wearing it over a swimsuit this summer!

Listening to the Podcast as a type. You’re now one of two podcasts that I’m subscribed to 🙂 I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. I recently switched to a Kindle and I’m obsessed, mostly for the sole purpose that I don’t have to drive to the library 2-3 times a week, and just started getting into Goodreads since it’s connected to Kindle. It’s been a good way to rate the books. I can’t wait to listen in as you get more settled with the pod. Congrats ladies!

Also – I just looked through your reading list and noticed you haven’t read anything by Renee Carlino. HIGHLY recommend, especially since you loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Her writing reminds me a lot of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s. I’ve read 2 of her books in 2 days and am onto the 3rd. Swear on This Life seems to be most popular (which I read – it was good), but I actually liked Wish You Were Here (her latest) better. I hope you enjoy!

I loved the first episode so much! And am already listening to The Selection too, I’ll be done soon! Good thing there are more to follow up…

This is strange and I KNOW women get so much criticism on their voices on podcasts which I think is really ridiculous, but I really love Becca’s voice! Perfect for podcasts, but I know she is more than her voice, as I love listening to WHAT she’s saying more than HOW she says it, but that helps too 🙂 Great work!
