It is time to talk about denim! Today, Carly and I are each sharing some favorite styles for fall. I talk more about it below but I’ve enjoyed mixing things up a bit with barrel + wide-leg silhouettes. And I love that Carly is hitting up the men’s department. Read on for each of our denim picks (and some great codes!).
Favorite denim edit.
First, some codes! We are lucky enough to work with lots of denim brands on an affiliate basis. A few have even given us some codes. I thought I would put them all in this post to make things easier.
- BLANK: Blank makes great denim at very good prices. The pair I am wearing above is $98, and the fit is perfect. I took my regular size. They look non-stretch, but, thanks to 1% spandex, have just enough stretch to give you a nice fit. Use GRACE15 for 15% off.
- PISTOLA: I have and love both this pair and this pair — both are true to size and among my most worn denim. Use GRACE15 for 15% off.
- LA LIGNE: I love this pair of kick flares. Use GRACE10 for 10% off.
Grace’s Denim Picks
Grace: This elder millennial is having some fun and experimenting a little bit. Last year, I swapped out my skinny jeans for kick flares. The change felt manageable and easier than, say, going full wide leg. I highly recommend this $86 pair if you are considering a kick flare. This year, I have been experimenting a little bit more with trouser-type jeans (like these!), barrel jeans (these!), and wide-leg silhouettes like the jeans I’m wearing above. You’ll probably (I mean never say never) see me in a really baggy pair of jeans that covers my shoes… I’ve found that I feel my best when I show a little ankle, like with the pair of jeans above.
My other “requirement” is just a bit of stretch. The way I am built (wider hips and little legs) means a wide leg can look really, really wide on me if I size up to fit my hips (often the case with non-stretch). When there’s a touch of stretch, I can take my regular size, and we are golden! I love the pair from Blank that I am wearing above. When I saw “rib-cage” in the fit, I wasn’t so sure but they’re perfect. Again.. just a little bit of stretch does wonders! I’ve tried on every single pair featured here; sizing notes are in the product blurbs!

Carly’s Denim Picks
Carly: While change is on the horizon for Grace, I cannot promise the same when it comes to branching out with the styles of denim I’m willing to try. Because I am fairly petite, I’ve had to master the art of figuring out what denim works for me and what doesn’t. There is a very fine line between what I feel accentuates my (minimal amount of) curves and stays true to my personal style.
With some of my other work, I’m back in an office several days a week, so I’ve had to stay clear of the ultra-baggy, ultra-low-rise vintage denim that I’ve come to know and love. My happy medium has actually been found through branching into certain men’s sections, and I’ve found the most success at Abercrombie! I’ve actually got a pair of these “ultra baggy” jeans in a camouflage print, which has been really fun to dress up with a peasant top or button-up and loafers. I hopped into the store on Lower King Street a few weeks back and IMMEDIATELY fell in love with this black painter’s pant style. My tried and true Uniqlo wide straight jeans will forever remain on my list of recommendations, but this season, I’ve had a few other styles catch my eye, like these cuffed jeans from MOTHER and this off-white pair from Madewell.
-
