On My Radar…

on my radar | May 2017 | A totally random collection of things I am absolutely loving at the minute... from the best self-tanning pads to an ultra cozy throw blanket made from recycled cotton.

Sometimes I just have… like, a lot of stuff to tell you about, but it doesn’t necessarily fit within a specific beauty story or roundup. Hence today’s hodgepodge of amazing stuff. It’s a little bit all over the place, but everything here is seriously good. As always, click the image above to shop… or read along below to see why I love these little gems.

Beauty

When it comes to body (and self-tanning), I have gotten addicted to these alpha beta glow pads from Dr. Gross. They’re a wonder-product of sorts – besides self-tanning they exfoliate, firm, and help reduce hair growth. With summer around the corner I’ve been using them twice a week (and getting a lot of questions from my girlfriends with regard to where my tan is coming from!!)

On Tuesday I was treated to a blowout at IGK’s fab salon at the Dream Hotel. My stylist used this instant hair mask spray and I was amazed at how soft my hair was after. I love that it’s pretty much instant… no sitting around, waiting. You just spray it on, comb it through, and leave it on maybe 30 seconds, and it works its magic. It left my hair super soft and shiny but not even a little bit weighed down.

This cold pressed coconut oil is the most luxurious. I also love the jar. I keep it on my nightstand to dab on dry spots (knees, feet, elbows, even my lips) before bedtime. I love the brand’s sustainability mission too… for every jar purchased, they plant a coconut tree!

With all the travel I’ve been up to (Mexico, especially, as I used so much sunscreen) my skin started to feel really dull and dry. That was all quickly remedied with this Herbivore Mask. It’s the perfect solution when you need a little glow. It clarifies and brightens without irritating. (Blue Tansy oil is high in Azulene, which helps to calm skin and prevent inflammation.)

Pixi is one of my favorite inexpensive beauty brands (all of their “glow” products are so good, especially when your skin is feeling rough or dry) and their new overnight glow serum is truly awesome. It has a thicker consistency. After washing your face, pat it dry and then apply 2-3 (big) drops of this to your skin. Allow to dry and then apply a thick moisturizer. Go to sleep and wake up with super soft skin.

Fashion

I spotted this bag on a girl on the street and put it on my instagram story, asking if anyone knew who designed it. You guys pointed me to Min & Mon and I am so in love with all of their stuff. If you are looking for a cool statement bag (that not everyone else has, and won’t break the bank), dash over to their site!

I don’t really know how I am just discovering the wonder of BP’s sunglasses, but I am. I don’t know if I’ll ever buy expensive sunglasses again. They’re chic and fun and rarely over $12. Most recently, I’ve been eyeing these.

I love a good collaboration but only when it makes sense. John Robshaw and S’Well are two of my favorites, and their collab is perfect for summer! The set contains a beach bag, towel, and S’well water bottle – decked out in one of Robshaw’s signature patterns.

Home

My friend gave me this (amazing) home fragrance machine from Aera as a housewarming gift. It’s so cool. You can control it with an app so that it turns on and off at the right times, and there are several different fragrances. Right now I am using the “Mosaic” fragrance and my apartment smells like a spa! If you need a last minute gift for Mom, I would definitely recommend it.

My interior designer told me about Happy Habitat’s throw blankets and I am obsessed! They’re soooo soft and made from 80% recycled cotton. They sent me this graphic coral and emerald one and I have spent the past few nights snuggled up under it watching my shows and reading. This palm leaf one is also very cool.

Me too!!! I use it for everything… from oil pulling to all over my body to take makeup off! I have seen people putting a teaspoon in their morning coffee and am curious about that.

Is the home fragrance similar to a diffuser? Can you tell me more information about how it works? Thx

      Hi Terri!
It’s similar to a diffuser but more high-tech. You can control the intensity of the fragrance, and you can also control it through their mobile app (you can even schedule it to start diffusing at different times of day!)

WWD describes it very well with this quote: “The point of Aera is that it utilizes the same technology that is used to scent Abercrombie & Fitch stores and W Hotels, releasing each fragrance ingredient at once to create a uniform and even fragrance that doesn’t dissipate or change over time.”

      Hope that’s helpful! 🙂

Such a fun round up! I always love how much you talk about beauty products and skin care, but I was wondering how you balance all the products on the blog? Do you rotate products? Use them all? As someone with sensitive skin (and a small budget), I want to invest in a few, trustworthy products. Are there products that you use all the time? Thanks!

Haha that’s a very good question. So the products in today’s roundup were pretty easy… I integrated the serum into my bedroom routine and the mask and hair masks are more of a treatment item that you can use a couple times to understand if it works. I rotate in new products as I test them, and I test everything for at least two weeks before featuring it to ensure it really works. I have sensitive skin though so really only test a couple new things at a time… but it’s a fun part of the job, that I really enjoy doing!

I featured all my holy grail products in this post – these are the ones I use and buy all the time! http://thestripe.com/2015/10/my-holy-grail-beauty-products/
