I have talked here quite a bit about my love for Olaplex No. 3. I featured it as one of my top two holy grail hair products a few weeks ago and have been a fan of it ever since wayyyyy back in the day when I used to see Aura at Sally Hershberger and had super blonde hair. Remember that? Back then, Olaplex was a salon-only sort of thing, so she’d sneak me out of with a little tub of Olaplex. I felt so cool and insidery. Now anyone can buy it!
Just in case you are new here or didn’t read my first post, I want to stress that Olaplex No. 3 is a pre-shampoo treatment. You can do it after washing your hair if you’d like, but the real magic comes when you use ait as a pre-treatment. I am not entirely sure why, just trust me on this.
Olaplex No.0 Review!
Recently, Olaplex launched a new product, meant to complement No. 3: Meet No. 0! The team sent me a bottle to try a few weeks ago before it launched. I was a little skeptical as I love the original so much – would this actually do anything else? I was really impressed, though! Again, this is meant to be used WITH No. 3. It actually comes with a small size of No. 3 in a cute little kit.
How to Apply:
The formula feels like water. You wet your hair all over, leave on for 10 min, and THEN put No. 3 on for another ten minutes. It takes a little while to apply – the bottle has a little nozzle so you squeeze it out, but I like that it comes out more slowly… it’s not messy at all, and you don’t have any waste. Yes, it’s a little high maintenance, but hey – we all have more free time than usual, these days! And TBH, it solves the problem of wetting your hair before you get in the shower and put in No. 3. (I used to wet my hair with a spray bottle).
Olaplex No.0 Results
As for the results, my hair is noticeably smoother and SHINIER when I use this! Shine is definitely the key difference of using the duo vs. just No.3. All of Olaplex’s products feature bond-building technology which actually works to repair the bonds of your hair, resulting in noticeably healthier hair. Your hair will be stronger with less breakage, healthier, softer, and SHINIER! (My enthusiasm over the shine is palpable. My hair type is not naturally shiny – it’s dull and frizzy, so when something gives my hair even a glimmer of shine, I get very excited.
This gets my stamp of approval. I would recommend using the combo 1-2x a week! If you already use No. 3, stick to your usual schedule but use this to wet your hair beforehand instead of water. My hair is in better shape now that I’ve finally had a cut so only do it once a week but if I hadn’t had the cut yet I’d do it twice a week. You can buy the little kit here!

Their products are incredible!!!!
I am obsessed with Olaplex No. 3! I use it 2-3 times a week, before every time I wash my hair, and I try to leave it in for at least an hour. I’ve been considering investing in the Olaplex shampoo and conditioner (and not this No. 0 treatment as well…) I’d be curious to know if the other Olaplex products are as good as No. 3. They are so expensive!
I use #3 and love it—and recently started using #6 before styling with heat and love it! I haven’t gotten my hair trimmed since February and frequently style with heat. I was starting to notice more and more breakage (which is normal for me when I’m close to my trim appts) and starting to use #6 has made a huge difference!
No. 3 (and now No. 0) are the only products I’ve tried! But highly recommend both.
I’m a big Olaplex fan. I use No. 3 then the shampoo and conditioner. Since quarantine started, I’ve been using it every Sunday and just letting No. 3 sit in my hair for hours. I have naturally very curly frizzy hair and I’ve noticed such a difference! I have to add No. 0 into my routine now! I just wish their line was a little more affordable. The bottles are so small for the price.
So glad!!!! It really does make such a big difference.
I usually leave the No. 3 on overnight. Do you think I could do the same with the No. 0 underneath?
I don’t see why not!!!
I just started using No 3 several weeks ago. My hair was just bleached and highlighted. Ordered olaplex No 1 and used the combination according to directions. I adore the results. My natural curl is more defined the color is shiny and hair is visibly in better condition already.

I bought No. 0 and I found the stream that came out of the applicator kind of annoying! I feel like it would be better in a spray bottle. There was no way for me to saturate my hair (I have thick, long hair). I was just wondering how much of the bottle you had left after you saturated your hair? I feel like it would be two uses for me maybe… I ended up not fully saturating my hair!
Hi Alyssa! I used about a fifth of the bottle I’d say! I wouldn’t say I fully drenched my hair but I got it pretty wet! (I also have thick, long hair!) I don’t think you need quite that much. But maybe reach out to the brand for an official answer!
I poured my No.0 into a spray bottle. I found it easier to apply (especially on my ends) and I think I used less than with the original applicator. I hope this helps make it last longer.
That’s so smart!
Olaplex is a really a magic. it work awesome no matter what kind of hair you have. Nice to read your review on it. Glad to know how useful it for all who need hair care at home at this pandemic time
Can you put the number 0 in a spray bottle for easier application?
Yes!!
