New from NARS.

Unless you’ve been living under a beauty rock, you’ve probably heard of NARS Orgasm. Aside from the memorable name, it’s a cult-favorite product that has garnered a massive following as it literally looks good on everyone. “Aside from the notorious name, this blush looks good on practically everybody,” François Nars told Allure in 2009. I have talked about this before but in my humble opinion, blush is the one beauty product that will instantly make you look prettier. It’s also the product I most frequently forget to put on.

Orgasm launched in 1999 (also the year I graduated high school). Nearly twenty years later, it remains one of NARS’ all time best-sellers. I remember buying it at Sephora in college. Back then going to Sephora was a realllly big deal – we didn’t have one on Cape Cod, and I drove an hour from my college to go to the one at the South Shore Mall in Braintree, MA. It was one of the first high end beauty products I ever bought, and I loved the pinky peach flush that it bestowed upon my cheeks. I showed it off to my girlfriends and it really did look good on all of us, no matter what our skin tone. (For the record, the technical reason that it looks so good on everyone is that it blends warm and cool tones together… pink, peach, and gold to be specific… leaving the wearer with that certain natural flush, + subtle shimmer.)

This Spring, NARS had a few big beauty launches. First, they expanded the Orgasm franchise, adding in a lipstick (which I LOVE. Krystal and I are both wearing it in this post). It’s pinky-gold and a little shimmery and looks great with a tan. Good for dates when you don’t want to scare the boys away with bright red lips.

They launched these amazing new liquid blushes. The liquid blushes actually remind me a lot of Glossier’s Cloud Paint in texture… like watercolor paints for your face. I tried them all and my personal favorite (not surprisingly) is Orgasm. The other colors are free of shimmer, and I like that this one has gold flecks so you get a nice rosy glow. The way I like to use them is to pump a couple drops onto the back of my hand and then use my Beauty Blender to apply to the apples of my cheeks and around my hairline. (Anyone else apply blush by their hairline? A makeup artist taught me this a while back and it makes you look sort of angellic!)

Swatched from left: Orgasm, Dolce Vita, Torrid, Luster

I’ve never actually used blush ever before – I know, it sounds crazy! This one from NARS seems like a good starting point!

      Thats so funny!
For me it’s the product I always forget. But (at least on me!) I always look SO much better when I remember it.

So true, I totally remember Orgasm being my first luxe beauty buy and ever since I was hooked. I think that Vapour makes a great natural dupe.

I love anything coral or orangey. They look awesome. Going to buy their creamy concealer after some many reviews, and I love Benefit’s Chacha tint so I think adding one of these blushes to my collection wouldn’t hurt! X

They’re really great!! (I love Cha Cha tint too! This is more creamy whereas Cha Cha is a little more sheer like a water, just FYI!)

When you say you apply by the hairline, do you mean by your temples or the top of your head as well? I need all the tips I can get 🙂 thanks!

So excited about checking out this new product line! Usually, I prefer powder blush, but liquid versions actually work better in summer — when you want your skin to look a bit more luminous and dewy!

I agree!! I like to be as shiny as possible (okay within reason, haha) in the summer.
