Navy + Red.

Navy Peacoat | Grace Atwood, The Stripe // Cozy Winter Outfit Idea
beanie // coat // scarf // sweater // jeans // bag // boots

I pretty much live in my navy peacoat. It’s either that or my long camel coat this time of year.

I bought this one at J.Crew four, maybe five years ago and it was such a great investment. It’s super warm, always looks fresh and in style, and the thick wool fabric is amazing quality. Like my camel coat, it will never go out of style – it’s definitely a classic! J.Crew doesn’t make this one anymore but I linked to several very similar options down below. My favorite would probably be the one from L.L. Bean. Their coats last forever and the silhouette is very classic. For a coat like this, you don’t want something too trendy. I styled it with my usual favorite… bright pops of red.

I don’t know what is wrong with me as I have another stomach bug. I was sick yesterday and Monday. This sounds crazy but I think I may be allergic to movie theater popcorn. Every time I have it I feel a little sick… and that was the last thing I ate before I started to feel completely awful! Ugh. Is that weird?? The older I get, the more sensitive my stomach gets. I’m sticking to the BRAT diet for the rest of the week… bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. And lots of fluids. I will tell you this: I spent the better part of yesterday watching The Bachelor. I’ve only seen one season of The Bachelor/Bachelorette… I made an exception to my no reality-TV rule a few years ago to watch the season with Ali Fedotowsky as Chris Lambton (the guy who came in second place) is a friend from high school. I have to say, it was pretty entertaining. I think I am going to have to keep watching. It may be my new guilty pleasure. Also – Corinne… I can’t. She is 24 and has a nanny? What!? So confused. I feel old, guys.

But anyway, sick or not sick, life goes on and I can’t spend today watching TV. This morning I am speaking on a panel to a bunch of retailers with ShopStyle (my affiliate network) alongside Kat + Krystal. Public speaking is something I’m working at – I get so nervous but I say yes to most of the opportunities I receive as it is a skill I really want to improve upon. After that, I have a photo shoot. And then more rest and a little work. But anyway, I hope you have a nice little Wednesday. And if you are watching The Bachelor too… let’s talk about it! Do any of you have nannies? 😉

Outfit Details: J.Crew Coat (4 years old but this, this, this, and this are all just as classic + similar) // Glamorous Cold Shoulder Sweater // 7 for all Mankind Jeans (love this pair too) // BP Trolley Boots // Red Beanie // Grana Cashmere Scarf // Otte Bag // Celine Sunglasses // Ben-Amun x The Stripe Necklace

I love this cold shoulder sweater. I rarely buy trendy clothing in the winter, but this trend is kind of fun! This one is only $65 which makes it feel a little okay to experiment. I also love this cold shoulder turtleneck and this ribbed v-neck… both under $100!

My necklace is a part of my collaboration with Ben-Amun. The collaboration is a limited edition so it will only be up for a couple more weeks… the last day to shop will be 1/31!

  1. I always wear navy, but am too boring for red. I’ve never thought of pairing a bold red with navy! It works well!

Aw you should give red a try! I bet you would look great in it.

  2. Kelsey says 1.18.17

I love the pops of red, and that sweater is so cute! I hope you are feeling better soon!

    • graceatwood says 1.18.17

Thank you so much Kelsey! Hope you enjoy the rest of your week.

  3. Elle says 1.18.17

Oh no! I hope you feel better soon. That is awful! Speaking of the bachelorette, Corinne is WAY too much and they are giving her too much air time! Wish I had a nanny… seems like it is more like a servant.

    • graceatwood says 1.18.17

Agree that the nanny definitely feels more like a servant!!! Oof. I hope she gets kicked off soon!

  4. Sophie says 1.18.17

The navy and red look is stunning.

    • graceatwood says 1.18.17

      Thank you so much Sophie!

Being sick is the absolute worst! My stepmom used to loveee popcorn (it was her nightly snack) up until she started getting really sick after eating it. She finally went to the hospital one night because it got so bad and they diagnosed her with diverticulitis. I’m no doctor, but it could be the culprit! Our bodies are so strange how they can tolerate something one day and completely reject it the next. I used to eat almonds every single day and then woke up with an allergy to them – so strange. I hope you feel better soon. And good luck speaking today!

    • graceatwood says 1.18.17

Ooof that is good to know. I am starting to feel better today but if this happens again I am going to see the doctor – I have been getting sick too frequently, which scares me! And thanks for the good luck – today went really well! xo

Love this on you, Grace, and that sweater is so fun. Hope you feel better soon (stomach bugs are the WORST), and yup, I just started watching the Bachelor — I haven’t seen much of it before last season and this one is cracking me up. These girls. Corinne is insane but she also makes for good TV. There’s a new twitter handle that popped up from “Corinne’s nanny”…. hysterical!

    • graceatwood says 1.18.17

They are totally crazy!!! I saw that twitter handle – hilarious! Thanks for stopping by, Alyson 🙂 xo

  7. Jenn Lake says 1.18.17

  9. Marta says 1.18.17

The coat is gorgeous! And I love the pops of colour that the beanie and the bag give.

    • graceatwood says 1.18.17

      Thank you so much Marta!

I held off on the Bachelor for a while, but when I moved to the city, my roommate watched, and she turned both me and my other roommate onto it. Now I’m obsessed! It’s a total guilty pleasure, but the show is SO funny and entertaining. I always watch with a group of friends every week and it makes Mondays so much better!

    • graceatwood says 1.18.17

It’s such a fun guilty pleasure!!! 🙂 xo

  11. Maggie says 1.18.17

Sorry to hear that you are sick again! I love the Bachelor, but get together with friends to watching it later in the week, so I’m never 100% current. I’m 36 and absolute do not have a nanny. I hope she gets the boot soon!

    • graceatwood says 1.18.17

Yeah, I think that is how I will be – I will probably just watch casually on Itunes. 🙂 I hope she gets the boot too! And thank you for the well wishes 🙂

  12. Cy says 1.18.17

I used to watch it and then I got tired of. A guilty pleasure for certain. I love Top Chef and Project Runway( I used to work in fashion) . Also, Master Chef Junior, the kids are so cute and sweet to eacother! I’m so sorry to hear you are ill again. I take probiotics everyday, I’ve gotten more sensitive too, as the years go by. I swear it’s that weird chemicalaly fake butter they use on the movie popcorn . Most places don’t use real butter anymore and that stuff always makes me ill. Love the red and navy! Take care !

    • graceatwood says 1.18.17

Yeah, pretty sure it is something awful. I have to be more careful with what I eat… I eat very clean at home, but then because I’m so good most of the time I will eat something bad when I go out and then feel rotten. Need to stop that.

  13. Dana says 1.18.17

Love the navy with pops of red!

    Pink Champagne Problems

    • graceatwood says 1.18.17

      Hahahahaha she is so terrible!!!!!

  14. Mary says 1.18.17

I absolutely love the red pops of color! The bag is so cute with your monogram. What a fab touch. Also, I really hope you feel better! SO sad about the popcorn because Lord knows that is the best (from the theater). I hope you can catch up on your sleep and shows, and feel better very soon. If it helps, you look like a million bucks! So you can’t tell you’re under the weather, that’s for sure!

    • graceatwood says 1.20.17

Thank you so much for the kind words Mary!!! It’s been a rotten week but starting to feel better today! xo

  15. Lisa says 1.19.17

You look so cozy and now I want a navy blue peacoat!! 😉
I don’t typically watch The Bachelor, but this season I decided to because a friend’s sister is on there!!! How crazy is that!!!!!!! It’s definitely been a “guilty pleasure” of mine this month!

    • graceatwood says 1.20.17

Thanks Lisa! And agree – it’s definitely a guilty pleasure!!! I just can’t get over how long the episodes are!

  16. Katie says 1.21.17

This outfit is so cute, love the navy and red! Corrine is hilarious, can’t believe she has a nanny like it seems so ridiculous!

    • graceatwood says 1.23.17

It’s totally insane. But definitely makes for good entertainment!
