Oh hiii Monday! I’m still out in San Francisco for a few days to take some meetings. Our girls’ weekend in Sonoma was so much fun, but we’ll get to that later. Today, we’re chatting about hair, and an easy way to do something good and give back.
September 8th (just under a month away!) is actually National Donate Your Hair Day, a day of giving that encourages people to cut and donate their hair to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths program.
This year, Pantene will be launching their “$8 or 8″ Challenge,” asking people to either give $8 to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Fund; or cut and donate 8″ of hair to create free, real hair wigs for women who have lost their hair due to cancer. The program launched in 2006, and since it’s inception has received over 800,000 hair donations from generous men, women, and children around the world. It actually takes 8-15 ponytails to create one wig, so every donation really matters!
What’s especially exciting about the $8 or 8 challenge is that now, everyone can participate. Many people are unable to donate their hair due to donation requirements and restrictions so now there is another way to support the program, through making a donation. I love that Pantene does this and I’m really excited to participate and make my own donation on September 8th! (In the meantime, you can learn more formal information about the program here.) I strongly encourage you all to circle September 8th on your calendar and share your donation on social media (tag @Pantene, and use #80r8 and #BeautifulLengths!)
