My Two Step Cure for a Big Pimple.

My Two Step Cure for a Big Pimple

I rarely break out (my skin is just really dry). but when I do it’s bad. Like, dramatically bad. It starts with the skin feeling a little sore (almost like a bruise?) and then there is that nagging feeling that something big and bad is going to explode from my face. Disaster struck my face recently and I remembered a little trick that an old boss told me. This trick WORKS. It requires a little bit of patience – you have to get the pimple to the point where it’s ready to pop.

I do this by doing a series of hot compresses to the area. I make the water as hot as I can, soak a wash cloth in it, press it to the affected area, and repeat. (If you feel like splurging, this facial steamer is incredible though absolutely not necessary.) In between I might put on a clay mask or this amazing drying solution (my favorite) to help draw it out even more. Never, ever pop a pimple before it’s ready to go… you could end up with scars or making the problem so much worse.

Once it’s ready to pop (you’ll know it’s ready as there will be a white head), I proceed with caution. I use this little tool (you could also use two q-tips) to gently extract/pop it, clean the area with a warm wash cloth, and then do two things.

First, I clean the area with an alcohol swab/wipe. This stings a bit but cleans it out.

Then, I apply just a dab of Neosporin.

That’s it. Don’t touch it, let the Neosporin work its wonders, and you are good to go. I do this before bed when possible (keeps me from thinking about it and obsessing). And I am not kidding you when I say that this WORKS. I had a monster pimple on Sunday night and when I woke up on Monday, it was gone. I mean there was a small red spot but it was mostly just gone. Incredible!
