My Second Collection with Nightire!

My Second Collection with Nightire

I could not be more excited to collaborate with Nightire for the second year in a row (you can see last year’s collab here)! This year brought about a lot of personal change… returning to travel and some semblance of “normal life” again and also: a big move: to Charleston! Working on the second collection made me nostalgic…. we shot last year’s collection in my temporary rental apartment here in Charleston – at the time I was contemplating making the move but was so nervous to take the plunge. It’s crazy to think how much can change in one year.

My Second Collection with Nightire!

For the short set (above), I was inspired by the Charleston sunsets. They’re some of the best in the world and underrated, in my opinion. We went a little bit dark and moody (so this is more of a stormy sunset!) but when I see these pajamas I will always think about watching the sun set on Sullivan’s Island or walking along The Battery in my (new) hometown of Charleston, South Carolina.

I am going to get into more details below, but through MIDNIGHT on Weds 11/3, you can take 10% off with code GRACETEN ! (Note: the code is only valid on the two sets of pajamas).

Also, this year she did eye masks (desert toile here and Charleston sunset here). These were a last minute addition so I didn’t get receive in time to shoot but I love them and think they’d make a great gift!

Nightire x The Stripe pajamas

The inspiration behind the green and white “desert toile” pajamas (above!) was the first post-lockdown vacation I took.. a trip to Palm Springs, but more specifically to the Joshua Tree. I had never been before and took so much inspiration from the desert. The contrast of the blue sky against the dusty desert and rock formations… but mostly, the actual Joshua Tree cactuses. We thought it would be fun to reinterpret a more classic toile pattern with cacti. I am thrilled with how they turned out. (And if you were wondering, yes: the green color is the same green we used for the striped pajamas last year).

Nightire short set Grace Atwood

I really, really love the scalloped hem on the short set!

I want to go back a bit in time to talk about why I love working with Nightire so much.

They are a small brand, based out of the UK. Nina, the founder, is more or less a one woman show and so impressive to me. During lockdown, she approached me to ask if she could send me a pair of her pajamas. I already had a lot of pajamas but loved the clementine print so I said yes.

I got the pajamas in the mail and fell in love: the fabric felt so silky and good against my skin and she was right: the bamboo was really cooling which was a game changer for me as I am such a hot sleeper! So I posted the clementine set to my instagram and talked about the cooling fabric and you guys sold out her site. A few months later she approached me about a collaboration and that was just an immediate YES! You can see those pajamas here. I couldn’t be more excited to get to do it again this year.

SIZING NOTES:

These are available in (straight sizes) XS – XXXL. I am wearing a medium in both styles. I am generally a size small/medium 6 in dresses and tops and a medium/8 in bottoms. The medium fits me perfectly. If you are in between sizes I would say to size up. Last year I did get feedback that they ran small. I would say maybe go up one size from your J.Crew size? Also: the fabric will shrink slightly in the dryer (I found this to be minimal but I always dry mine on low!)

FABRIC NOTES:

The pajamas are made from 100% organic bamboo. If you’re not familiar with the feel of bamboo, it’s extremely silky and soft… and almost cool to the touch. It feels great on the skin and also holds up incredibly well in the dryer – no fading or pilling, etc.

Question: since Tyrion is on the nightire site do you consider him to officially be a cat model? Because I vote yes.

Have you ever done a collection of nightgowns? I am not much for pajama’s.

Not unless you count nightgown dresses! 😉

I’m not really a nightgown gal but I love a good nightshirt. I have been trying to get Nina to make a nightshirt for a while.

Congratulations, Grace!!! I ordered the desert toile for myself—just love the print so much. I don’t typically wear long pants to sleep because they can make me so sweaty (even in winter), so I’m anxious to see if these are the same way. I’d love to see a long sleeve top + shorts set someday! It seems like pajama sets like that are not made very often across the board haha.

Aw yay, I hope you love it!!!! A few people have suggested that idea and I’ve passed it on to Nina!
