Just dropping in with a quick afternoon post. I recently discovered these two (both completely natural and organic) glow-inducing products and had to tell you about them immediately!!! As you probably know by now highlighter/illuminator is one of my absolute must-have products… I love to glow! But it can be tricky to find a good one, especially if you are looking to go the all-natural route. Prior to discovering these, my favorite natural highlighter was RMS’s Living Luminizer. But then RMS went and one-upped itself with its latest and greatest! Read on to see why…
* Maya Chia The Highlight of the Day: So, I was confused at first by this. Is it makeup? Is it serum? Maya Chia describes it as a makeup serum on their website which doesn’t exactly feel helpful… but at the end of the day, that’s what it is! The Highlight of the Day (besides being cleverly named) is a pearlescent liquid. The texture is like a serum… but it is indeed makeup. On the brand’s website, it says to place a few drops wherever you’d like to glow, but I did not read that until sitting down to write this post. What I did for all of last week (and the week before!) was take a full dropper of it and rub it on all over my skin… blending it into my entire face. And you know what? I kind of loved it. When I first applied it I was a bit freaked out. I looked iridescent. But then I rubbed it in and (in all seriousness), it just looked as though I had put on the “pretty” Snapchat filter. My skin was crazy glowy and radiant and any imperfections blurred away. It was magic. Unlike regular serum, I apply this after moisturizing… but before putting on tinted moisturizer or any face makeup (and sometimes I apply it and don’t put on any makeup at all). It’s the best… whether or not you opt to only apply it where you want to glow.
* RMS Magic Luminizer: Okay, no shade to the Living Luminizer. Truly. It really is amazing, and it was my first natural highlighter love. But I didn’t absolutely love the color (it’s a frosty pearlescent white). I personally like something a little more golden, which is why the Magic Luminizer is my new favorite. This one is champagne-hued and flattering on all skin types. It is so, so pretty. Like the Living Luminizer (and all of RMS’s clever little pots), the texture is thick and creamy and super easy to apply. I dab this on my temples + brow bone, dot a bit in the inner corners of my eyes and down the bridge of my nose for a natural but very pretty glow.
And yes, you can use both! Start with a few drops of Highlight of the Day, apply your tinted moisturizer, and then highlight using Magic Luminizer. You will glow from within!
PS – check out my favorite illuminator of all time! It isn’t all natural but it’s still amazing. Also, see how J.Lo + Beyonce get glowing right here.
It kinda makes me suuuper happy that this little gift I gave you way back in 2012 set you up on this love affair with luminizers. Yay! I’m still an RMS Master Mixer convert myself…for me, you can’t beat the golden glow it gives!
I recently tried some of Maya Chia’s Super Blend. Have you tried it? I liked it better than May Lindstrom’s Blue Cocoon. I’m gonna stop by Credo soon to try some of this magical highlighter serum…sounds amazing! Random q: did you sample the ‘Happy Hour’ shade, or the ‘Golden Hour’ shade?
I KNOW!!! It’s so funny. I had never tried luminizer back then. Oh how things have changed!
I have not tried Maya Chia’s Super Blend but I love their oils. I like their power couple oil and the body oil is fab as well.
And lastly – I tried the Happy Hour shade. It’s so pretty. 🙂
I’ve only tried the Kate highlighter and it was a disappointment. Haven’t experimented with highlighters since; should give this one a try!

I’m not familiar with that brand! Try these – they are amazing!!!
What shade of the Maya Chia did you use? Thanks!
Hi Cory! I used The Happy Hour! xx
Good to know about the Magic Luminizer! I’ve been using RMS Living Luminizer for a year or two now, so excited to here about this option for next time 🙂
