Yesterday morning, I attended a breakfast to celebrate Tata Harper’s latest collaboration – this time with Maiyet, aptly named The Better Beauty Project… just in time for Earth Month. I don’t go to a lot of events these days but I never miss one from Tata Harper – her line of skincare products is one of the best I’ve tried – and it is fully organic + natural.
In case you are not familiar with Maiyet {I was not} they are a brand worth learning more about. A luxury brand – that also celebrates rare artisanal skills from unexpected places across the world. After visiting the shop {at 16 Crosby Street in Soho} I kind of wanted to move in – or at least lay down for a nap in one of the airy linen hammocks that lined the windows of the store.
As for the collaboration, its this lovely little set of four of Tata’s best selling all-natural products – contained inside a handwoven Varanasi-silk pouch. But the best part is that 100% of the proceeds go directly to support Nest’s Edible Garden initiative for the silk weavers of Varanasi, India. The initiative brings knowledge of slow food and eating organic to Varanasi… ultimately culminating in the creation of an on-site garden at the new silk-weaving facility.
The set itself would make a great gift for Mother’s Day – or it could be a perfect way to treat yourself if you travel a lot. Either way, all of the proceeds will benefit a great cause.

Hi Grace,
Sounds like a great event for a great brand. One nit of a question, though: you said, “the best part is that 100% of the proceeds {yes, proceeds – not just profits… so everything} go directly to support Nest’s Edible Garden initiative.” Did you mean to say revenue and not proceeds? I know some definitions of “proceeds” can mean revenue but generally speaking, when a company says “proceeds” they do actually mean profit…or specifically the $ left over after COGS is covered.
Either way, I’m happy to see more brands doing thoughtful cause marketing initiatives…but it’s also super important that the parameters are clear.
I love your blog! Thanks for all of the work you put into it.
Robin
Hi Robin,
To be honest, I don’t know! I feel a bit stupid now as I always thought that proceeds means everything!!! I’m going to email the brand to find out but in the meantime will adjust the post. Thanks for your comment.

I am actually a big Maiyet fan— I love the way they work with local artisans to create their products. And so many of them are incredibly gorgeous!
Speaking of ethical fashion are you familiar with Amanda Hearst’s Maison de Mode pop up shops?
Cool and informative post! Love the pics, brand is not familiar to me though:(
