Late Summer Wedding Guest Edit

Every quarter, we like to provide a little edit of our favorite wedding guest attire as that is always the top request across my DMs, emails, blog comments, the Facebook group, etc. As we move toward the end of the summer, we are both feeling a bolder color palette… but still in lightweight fabrics that can withstand a day in the sun and/or an evening of dancing.

Grace:

If you can believe it, I haven’t had a single reason to get dressed up this summer. At my age, most of my friends are either married or divorced and dating. Plus, summers in Charleston are hot so there haven’t really been any events to get dressed up for. Still, I am living vicariously through this round-up. I want a reason to get dressed up! As Carly has had more weddings than me, I had her take the reigns with the sourcing. But of this bunch my favorites are… this ruffled J.Crew(!) gown in the best shade of red, this super cool & Other Stories dress (they’ve so quickly become a favorite brand), and this slinky pistachio green number (just wow to that last one!). And of course this vibrant green kaftan — what a showstopper!

Carly:

Because my everyday closet consists mainly of neutrals, I tend to want an over the top, big and bold dress for events and weddings. We’re in the age of showing up fashion-wise as a guest, but not overdressing the bride. I’ve been really drawn to primary colors as of late rather than patterns and prints. Grace and I are definitely aligned with some of our favorites from the roundup. I’m obsessing over the ruffled J.Crew gown and pistachio & Other Stories number, as well as this ultra vibrant Simon Miller drop waist dress, this strapless midi (that I somehow found through an Instagram ad!), and this “business in the front, party in the back” midi from Anthropologie!
