Kelly here!
One of my favorite weekend activities is to wake up early to visit one of NYC’s incredible museums. I’m lucky enough to be a member at both the Met and the Whitney, but I live much closer to the Met so I like to walk there from the Upper West Side.. picking up sandwiches & juice at nearby Dean & Deluca to picnic with in Central Park.
It’s all at once relaxing, educational, and inspiring. The park is incredible this time of year (AND the Manus x Machina exhibit is still up at the Met!). Bonus points: the Met offers donation-based entry, so you can pay whatever you feel you can afford.
I love to keep comfy and feminine with a hat, a pretty dress, some sandals, and a tote for my to-go lunch. You’ll want to stay comfortable enough to be on your feet for a few hours, and then be able to retire in the sunshine at a picnic bench or on the grass.
Oh, and if you’re not much of an early riser on the weekends (my rosé-filled Friday night understands!), you can go a little later and instead enjoy a cocktail at the Met’s rooftop garden bar, which is open until 8:30 PM on Fridays & Saturdays. The view of downtown is incredible, and it’s a fun spot to wind down your art-filled afternoon.
Hope you enjoy!
