Kelly’s Chic Under $100: Rainbow Brights.

There are very few memories I have of popular nineties brands more fond than ones of Lisa Frank. I had stickers, pencils, a binder for school. A velvet embossed poster I could color between each fuzzy space that I hung in my room. It was full-blown obsession.

A few trendy color-related obsessions later (all black, all pink, colorblocking, etc.) and rainbow has come back around this spring in a very, very good way. It’s not psychedelic or childish (and no rainbow tigers or puppies to be found), but it’s playful and fun and honestly, a happy sigh of relief in a season that’s dominated by gloomy grey skies.

This was all over the season’s runways, and I’m loving some of the affordable takes on the trend. From soft pastels that can work their way into your athletic wear (like these leggings and this sweater), to pieces you can easily mix into your existing wardrobe (like this bodysuit), it’s a surprisingly easy-to-wear trend (except maybe for some crazy striped pants or fun platform shoes that push the limits on versatile!).

I guarantee this type of color pop will inspire a smile or two. Personally, I plan to experiment with a rainbow pedicure and maybe a fun hoodie.
