Kelly’s Chic Under $100: Metallics.

Metallic Pieces for Under $100 | The perfect unexpected way to update your wardrobe for Spring!

Metallics are generally huge for the holidays, and even though they’re not usually known for spring, I argue that metallics land squarely in the “frivolous but transitional” category (not unlike shades of rainbow).  They’re a little bit impractical, but so fun and perfectly seasonless when done in classic or muted colors. Avoid jewel tones this time of year, but otherwise most shades are fair game.

On my wishlist is this jacquard skirt from H&M with a gorgeous sheen, a pair of mirror-like silver booties to pair with denim, and some fun statement-making hair ties.  Try matching them to your makeup or nails to add a fully futuristic feel to your look.

While I mostly agree about the practicality of metallics, I think shoes are often the exception. I have several pairs of metallic shoes – bronze loafers, gold sandals, rose gold sneakers – and I swear they seem to go with everything. Even better, because they’re often an unexpected choice, I get so many compliments every time I pull out a metallic shoe. I think some of it depends on the style of shoe and just how shiny or muted the metallic is.

Love the colours of these picks, Kelly! My favourite is the striped tee. It’s so simple, but with a bit of shimmer, it can be such a statement piece! 🙂

I live in a mild climate and wear my metallic Vans year round. I get so many compliments! They help me feel a little more put-together than flops or regular sneakers.
