How was your weekend? Mine was really nice. My parents were in town so we did a bunch of stuff – went to my sister’s new store (coming in May), saw the Grant Woods exhibit at The Whitney, and had two yummy dinners at Claro + Meadowsweet.
I had been eyeing J.Crew’s sweater blazer for a while. I love anything that’s really comfortable but also a little polished. Big cozy sweaters are my favorite, but I can look like a sloppy mess if I’m not careful so why not take that big cozy sweater and turn it into a blazer. Perfection! I belted it here but will be sure to get some photos of it not belted, as it’s really versatile – you can basically wear it over everything from jeans and stripes to button downs to little sundresses once the weather warms up. It’s definitely a new favorite and now it comes in a bunch of other colors too!
My family all had a good laugh because every (freezing cold) day this weekend I showed up in some sort of ankle length jeans/slip on shoe combination. I didn’t even notice but my parents did, and they were baffled. We were out and about and they marveled at how it wasn’t just me – almost every girl we saw on the street was wearing ankle length (often ripped like mine) denim. I guess I don’t really mind cold ankles. If it’s really bad out, of course I’ll wear socks and full length pants (or snow boots) but otherwise, I’ll suffer a little bit.
Outfit Details: J.Crew Sweater Blazer // Vince Tee (like 10 years old but this is a good one) // J.Crew Belt (also very old, this is similar) // Re/Done Jeans (exact) // Vintage Hermes Bag // Manolo Blahnik Pumps // Celine Sunglasses // Gorjana Earrings
But also! I wanted to (quickly) share a few favorite playlists with you! Back in November I did a more formal post with all of my favorite podcasts but.. here are some more.
* Forever 35 is a new favorite – like, a can’t miss favorite. I even belong to their Facebook group. I like that the hosts are a little older (around my age), and the whole thing is basically dedicated to self care and skincare. My kind of podcast!
* That’s so Retrograde can be a little hokey but is really fun and I personally find the hosts to be extremely entertaining. They explore all areas of wellness… it’s fun to listen to and while it can be a little out there I always learn a lot, or at the very least, have a good conversation starter!
* U Up, I mentioned in my first post, but it just keeps getting better. I feel like the hosts are my best friends and I simultaneously laugh a lot and learn a bit more about the male brain.
* This is Why Your Single is another great dating podcast. It’s a bit more practical than U Up but the hosts are very entertaining and relatable.
* A Few Things is the Of a Kind Podcast and I like how it’s basically just a list of cool stuff they’re loving. I always learn something new.
Tell me your faves (pretty please!) in the comments!
PS – Every time I wear these earrings I get a million questions. I bought them in September and they are just the best. They have sold out at most retailers but they’re still available here!

A sweater blazer, what a genius combination! It reminds me more of a trench coat so it’s like three-in-one 😉 Very cute! 🙂

Also named Emily – also loving Forever 35 – and about to turn 35! So happy to be living in the golden age of podcasts 🙂
A bit different subject matter, but another favorite is “So Money with Farnoosh Torabi” and I could endlessly listen to “How I Built This” (my favorite episode is Drybar’s Alli Webb, when the host is in apparent disbelief that women pay money to get their hair blow-dried)
Thank you so much for the suggestion!!!! (I love How I built this too!)
I love Mirror Mirror too!
Love that sweater blazer–it looks so comfy and still put together. I love how you styled it with a striped shirt, as that is my go-to look 😉
How was the Grant Wood exhibition?
It was really cool! Really showcased his versatility as an artist!!
I’ll definitely have to check out U Up, thanks for the suggestion! The History Chix is one of my favorite less well known podcasts and 538 politics pod is always a must listen for me.
In unrelated news, the Chicago Stripe Group had our second book club meeting yesterday with a third event already scheduled for next month. Thanks again for your work getting those groups started!

Thank you so much for the suggestion!!!
LOVE how you belted this. Looks so great on you! xx
PS: I saw in your newsletter that you’re going to JT on Wednesday. I’m going on Sunday and I’m already freaking out — you’re going to DIE. He is too good in concert.
The Champagne Edit
I cannot wait! It’s my first time!!!!
Gotta love this kind of cute sweater blazer! I love the way you’ve styled this elegant daytime look and your bag is just perfect!

Thank you so much Natali!
In Michigan it’s hard to manage the ankle jeans with all of the winter snow, but the second the snow melts, I’m willing to sacrifice on warmth for them too! And I love a J.Crew sweater blazer…wearing mine right now, in fact.
Thanks for the new podcast suggestions – I’m always on the hunt for new ones. Unladylike is my current favorite in this category, and I always love The New Yorker Radio Hour too.
YES! It is snowing like crazy today so I wouldn’t go there but any other day? I’ll do it!!! I will have to check out Unladylike, thanks for the suggestion.
The sweater blazer is genius. I love how you belted it, too! I hope you’re feeling better, Grace!

Thanks Roxanne! xo
I love Selfie with Sarah James of Whoorl (she’s a green beauty guru!) and Kristen Howerton. It’s all about self-care and really good. ALSO, the new goop podcast—the first one, with Gwyneth interviewing Oprah, is life-changing, and I don’t say that lightly.
Ooh thank you so much for the suggestions! I have been meaning to listen to the goop podcast but keep forgetting about it!
Just ordered the sweater blazer Grace!!! So excited to style it similarly to how you did in these photos :). I am loving the Forever 35 podcast too! Have you listened to Lady Lovin?? Lo Bosworth, Greta Titleman and Jilly Hendrix talk about life and answer questions. I like listening to it on long walks for a bit of girl talk when I’m not in the mood for actually being a part of a girl talk convo 😉
Yay! And yes, I like Lady Lovin’ too! xo
I loveee “u up?”. Also “yogabycandance”, “optimal living” is quick and nice to hear in the early morning. And my guilty pleasure “wonder and scale” about real crime. I can’t believe I’m so late to the podcast game.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Love the “U Up?” podcast as well, hilarious! New York Launch Pod is another one I have recently discovered and find really interesting! Similar to How I Built This but focused on NY based start ups (like Brooklinen). Cool little snap shots into different industries and inspiring to hear from the entrepreneurs. Thanks for sharing your list!
Ooh thank you for the suggestions!!!
This is a pretty wonderful post. Good luck with your sister’s shop. I hope it will do great and be successful.

Thanks, Katya!!!
I love the overall color aesthetic of this outfit! It’s simultaneously cultured and calm. 🙂
Speaking of “cultured,” my current favorite podcast is “The Cultured Podcast”! It’s written and produced by arts and culture writer Michelle Khouri; every week, she has a different guest to discuss art, food, film, theatre, travel, and everything in between! It’s both fascinating and entertaining.
I’ll definitely be checking out your recommendations, too!
Thank you so much for the suggestion – that sounds amazing and I will definitely check it out!
I finally got this blazer in black and I am so glad I did! Now I want the camel too after seeing you wear it!
