By now we’ve all heard of “Hygge.” Pronounced like “hue-guh,” not “higg-ee” as I originally thought, it was last year’s big buzzword. It’s a Danish word that’s used when acknowledging a feeling or moment that is particularly cozy. Last week I was sick with a cold (and without heat!) and ALL I wanted to do was HYGGE THE EFF UP. (That’s totally not how the word is supposed to be used. Sorry.) And so that’s what I did. I took baths every night, did face masks, slathered my body in comforting oils, lit candles in every room of my apartment, snuggled up under three or four blankets at a time, and got really, really cozy. Writing this makes being sick not sound all that bad but it was still pretty brutal. Here are some of my favorite Hygge products… all things I own, use, and love this time of year.
Wishing you a very “Hygge” Sunday, friends!

The Commodity Book Candle sounds heavenly. I can’t believe such a candle exists, totally getting my hands on it! 😀

It’s truly the best bath soak of all time!!!
I’ve never said the word hygge out loud, but I was definitely mispronouncing it in my head. Thanks for the pronunciation guide.
Hahah no problem! I figured since I didn’t know, it would be helpful to others! xx
I had a cold last week as well and I did the same as you. When we’re sick, all we want to do is nothing so it’s better to give ourselves this little break and take time to heal. That eye mask seems amazing, it’s going on my Christmas wishlist.
It’s WONDERFUL! I hope Santa gets it for you. 😉
A newer friend was over for dinner a couple weeks ago and she kept saying she loved my apartment and that it was very hygge ( Swedish? ) I took that as great compliment. It’s the way I want people to feel. Her husband is German and they are there often, they have a similar word( don’t remember) but it’s really big in their culture too. I love all your recs and I’m so glad you finally have heat! We can get by here on the west coast for most of the year, but you guys really need it.
I love that!!! Being cozy is the best, and I agree – that’s a huge compliment.
I’ve been living under a rock because this is the first time I’ve ever heard of “hygge”. Wish it was pronounced like “higg-ee” so I could be “getting higg-ee with it” this Winter.
HAHA funny story because that was originally the title of the post until I realized I was pronouncing it all wrong!!!
