I had an interesting / awesome realization the other night. It’s going to sound a little bit stupid and is slightly embarrassing to admit {especially at 32 years old} but I realized I’ve come into my own, decor-wise and that I actually have a decorating style. Prior to now, I was living with a boy, and before that, financially struggling and living with roommates – no extra money to spend on making my apartment into a “home.” But that’s changed – also, I think as you get older your priorities shift and you want to spend a bit more to make your home feel like home. Inside my apartment you’ll find a Moroccan wedding blanket, a collection of antique teacups, a sheepskin rug in my dressing area, oven baskets, and Moroccan poufs… all very bohemian, in some ways. But then there are also geode coasters, my bar cart, mirrored trays and decanters, gold accents, and other more “luxe” things. It’s a little bit messy and haphazard, but somehow it all works. That it all goes together is a bit of a miracle, but it does… and that makes me really happy.
We talked about Hunters Alley a bit last month – it’s become my go-to for unique, special one of a kind pieces. Although a lot of the things in my apartment come from mass retailers, its important to me to have a few special accents that feel really special. That’s where this site comes in.
Anyway, I’m happy to tell you that Hunters Alley has offered to give one S&S readers a $100 credit to their site! To enter, just leave a comment below… telling me your last great vintage find!
Above are a few of the things I love – also… this pitcher! I found it after making the collage. I really, really want it.
Shop the collage above: Moroccan Wedding Blanket {check out their whole shop though – I love everything!} // Mid-Century Rocks Glasses // Gold Destiny Bowl // Agate Coasters // New Zealand Sheepskin // Retro Amber Glass Decanter // Teacup // French Blue Opaline Scent Jars {on my wish list for someday} // Vintage Gold Vanity Stool {she draped an IKEA faux sheepskin throw over it, BTW – brilliant!}

My last great vintage find was a large oil painting of crashing waves with lots of super-saturated blue tones. Last weekend my boyfriend and I found a beautiful red wood/glass armoire for sale as we were walking home from the farmer’s market. We got it for $80 (originally $1,200!) and the extremely nice seller helped us put it on top of the car and drive it slowly home.

I found the most amazing vintage Native American/Aztec blanket at my favorite antique shop the other day! Well, it’s really more of an over-sized runner because it’s far too narrow to use as a blanket, but I love the color it lends to my bedroom so I’ve designated its home to be at the foot of my bed. It really looks quite posh laying next to my faux bear fur blanket.
Post cards from my hometown at BK Flea! It was so random and special…

My last great vintage find! I’m from a country in South America called Guyana that was once a British colony. My last great vintage find was an old trunk that my grandpa told me came on a steamer ship from England. It had been in the family for years. My grandmother was throwing it out but I couldn’t let such a relic go to the dump so I took it home with me. The inside is in pristine condition, the outside needs work but it is an honor to own something that has been in my family for generations and has such a great history!
