Hot Tomato Summer

Hot Tomato Summer

Leave it to me to write this post just as we have a big tomato recall — let’s hope that’s sorted soon! Is anyone else counting down the days until tomato season? It is pretty much upon us. Here in Charleston, I dream about the tomato tart at FIG (one of my favorite restaurants). They just put it back on the menu, which means I will be posting up at the bar for that, the gnudi, and an icy glass of Sancerre ASAP. I also die for a well-made tomato sandwich (on thick slices of toasted sourdough, please), tomatoes with peaches and burrata, or a delicious tomato sliced up and sprinkled with sea salt. Simple is better when it comes to good tomatoes; you want to let the fruit shine!

To channel that, today we have a fun little tomato round-up! If forced to choose, my favorite tomato candle is this one from Flamingo Estate. It makes my home smell amazing, even if it isn’t lit. (Bonus points if you spring for the XL size–it lasts forever!). Hotel Lobby’s Hamptons Candle is a close second. Besides making my home smell like a farm stand, I love wearing tomato red. I find this color looks fantastic on just about everyone. It’s a mood booster, that’s for sure.

PS — how fun is Katie Sturino’s new swimsuit collab? I ordered this tomato swimsuit immediately. And if you have a little girl in your life, this set is the cutest. I wish they made it in my size!
