theory zeya crunch pleated skirt

And, Friday! This week flew by… I don’t really know where it went, but now I’m winding things down and have managed to get a cold. Whenever the weather changes I seem to get sick… drives me nuts. But anyway. Clothes. My friend Stacy convinced me to buy this skirt while I was in Charleston, and I’m so happy she did. I’m a huge fan of all things Theory and I love the preppy-chic vibe. As an added bonus, it has an elastic waist (loove the striped waistband), making it extra comfy.

In the past I’ve struggled with what to wear with high-waisted skirts. If you are busty, it can be difficult. I’ve ultimately realized that what looks best (for me) is a tighter top with a lower neckline (like this tank) and then a blazer or cardigan to cover up a bit more + keep things professional looking. It’s taken some adjustment (and the blazer is critical!) as I usually favor looser tops, but a loose top tucked into a skirt like this tends to look frumpy. Also with regards to blazers… I should tell you that I’m wearing my most favorite blazer in the world here, which I bought a few years ago… it never lets me down.

One last thing: My shoes! I’ve become pretty die hard about Manolo Blahnik for pumps (they’re just 100x more comfortable than any of my other pumps) and I really wanted to buy a white pair… but I couldn’t justify spending that much money on white shoes as they’re a) trendy and b) will probably end up very dirty knowing me… so I got this pair from Steve Madden. They’re still pretty comfortable – and under $100!

I’m with ya, this week FLEW! Also, I don’t like my tops to be so tight fitting, but the blazer over it pulls it all together that you always look good in red. I hope you start feeling better and are able to enjoy the weekend!
