Today, Jessie of The Concrete Catwalk is taking over S&S. I met Jessie during fashion week and we immediately hit it off. Her blog has become one of my daily reads. I love her bright, fun style, and bubbly personality. She’s moving to Hoboken, NJ from Kansas City in a few weeks, and I can’t wait to get together for shopping and DIY dates!
Hi Striped & Sequined Sweeties! My name is Jessieand I’m happy to be blog-sitting for Gracie-poo as she galavants around Europe without us! (But how excited are you to hear about her trip when she gets back?!) I met Grace this past September when I was in town for fashion week, and I have to say: I knew immediately that we’d be friends… We have a shared love for many things (including, but not limited to initial pendants, cobalt blue, and of course, DIY style) and I’m SO excited to spend more time together when I move to the NYC-area in a few weeks!
Now, let’s get down to business… I wanted to share a few outfit shots with you because that’s typically what I do on my blog, and when I was getting dressed on this particular day, I made sure to choose my favorite new striped item to plan my look around! This sweater has a roomier fit, and my first inclination was to pair it with my tried and true skinnies and some cute flats. One of the things I tell my clients (and often myself), is that if you bypass the first thing that comes to mind when planning an outfit, and encourage yourself to be a bit more creative, you’ll often be surprised and delighted by what you will come up with! I took a peek in the dress section on my closet, and found this lacy little number that was about to be packed away for summer, but decided to give it one last run – and I love the way it looks like a skirt and almost became a completely different piece! I thought it would also be fun to share the way I originally wore the dress two years ago here (teaser: it involves cobalt blue)!
Thanks again for having me, friends, and feel free to stop by my blog The Concrete Catwalk or join me on twitter to follow my own adventures in stripes, sequins and much more!
