Growing up, I remember Guess being the epitome of West Coast cool. I remember paging through fashion magazines and seeing those iconic Guess Girls. Mussed up Bardot-esque hair, smudged eyeliner, animal prints, and tight jeans… these girls oozed sex appeal and confidence – I was in awe (and frankly, still am!) These ads were reminders of a lifestyle far more glamorous than the one I actually had. Still, it was something to aspire to! Growing up on Cape Cod, the best I could do was hound the racks of Marshall’s + TJ Maxx, eventually tracking down a pair of their (extremely tight, and absolutely awesome) ankle zip jeans with that iconic triangle logo – and oh! I thought I was hot stuff.
That was back in the early nineties. Today, Guess is even more iconic a brand than ever. They’re celebrating their thirtieth anniversary this year and have launched a (pretty major) collection that epitomizes everything the brand stands for. Sexy + chic, yet laid-back and California-cool, all at once. To help Guess celebrate their anniversary, I teamed up with four other Lucky Style Collective bloggers to style an item from the collection and talk about what the Guess brand meant to me.
I chose the Drew Top – a sheer leopard blouse. I chose to pair it with mint jeans, a colorful belt, and sky-high wedges… but you could just as easily dress it up. Try tying it over a mini dress, pairing with silk shorts and stilettos, or pairing it with classic denim – like these aptly named “Claudia” jeans, also from the Anniversary collection.
Be sure to check out the other four bloggers posts, to see how they styled items from the collection!
Disclosure: This post was sponsored by Guess. I received compensation + the Drew top for styling purposes. All opinions are my own. Stripes + Sequins only features brands that I love!
