Little Black Dress.

Grana Black Slipdress - Grace Atwood, The Stripe
dress // heels // necklace // bag // cuff // sunglasses

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to really value simplicity. Easy, elegant pieces that always look good and can be easily dressed up or down… multi-taskers! Enter this Grana dress. I wore it like this (with my beloved lace-up Jimmy Choos + fun gold jewelry) to brunch with my girlfriends. I’ve also worn it with flat gold sandals to run errands, and I can’t wait to layer it under my denim jacket this Fall. You could also layer it under a sheer dress… pair it with a big cozy cashmere boyfriend cardigan… the options are endless.

By now you know that I am a BIG Grana fan. They make great basics (with fabrics sourced sustainably from all over the world), at amazing prices. This dress is only $79 and it’s made from ultra fine Chinese Silk (which is extra strong and also extra soft). On any order, you can take 10% off + get free worldwide shipping if you use code GRACEXGRANA!

Outfit Details: Grana Dress (c/o, take 10% off + get free worldwide shipping with code GRACEXGRANA – I’m wearing a size small – if you are in between sizes, go down.) // Jimmy Choo Platforms // Bag (bought in Tulum three years ago, but this is similar) // Krewe Julia Cateye Sunglases // Ben-Amun Tassel Necklace //BaubleBar Pisa Cuff

What a beautiful dress! I am 5’2 but with broad shoulders. I was thinking of ordering a small, but am afraid it will be too long. Can silk be altered?

      Hi Johanna!
Thank you! Silk can definitely be altered, and I would imagine this one would be super easy for any tailor to fix/hem… it isn’t lined so it would probably be an inexpensive adjustment too! xx

Grace, just had to let you know that I ordered this dress after reading your post and I love it so much. I live in NYC, and it arrived in two days. I’m also wearing it today, and it’s perfect for the swampy weather. Your recommendations are always spot-on! I so appreciate the heads up on age-appropriate (33) beautiful things that don’t break the bank. Thank you!

I just want to tell you that I love that you’re a normal size human, like the rest of us! And rock it with confidence!! This way we can see what the outfit will actually look like on us! Thank you!

Thanks Karen! That’s so nice of you to say. I think people can be sensitive to the term “normal,” though… I would maybe say average instead 🙂 🙂 xx

My brother is going to Tulum next month and I remembered you posting this bag that I loved. Do you happen to remember where you got it? I don’t have a straw bag and love the size, shape and handle on this one. I’m also sending him to Coqui Coqui. 🙂

      Hi Erica!
I bought this bag at The Coqui Coqui!
I should warn you though – I think the Coqui Coqui may have closed in Tulum. Last I heard, it had been seized by the gov’t and I dont know if they’ve reopened it. So sad!!!
