When choosing the brands that I want to partner with on the blog, it’s always a goal to work with partners who are doing great things – making a difference, giving back, helping their community. When I heard about the Poland Spring® brand’s Greatness Springs from Here™ campaign, I immediately got excited. The campaign is devoted to celebrating individuals + organizations who are making a positive impact in their local community.
As a part of the campaign, the Poland Spring® brand has enlisted the help of local writers and bloggers… setting us loose in our cities; commissioning us to highlight personal examples of greatness in the New York and Boston communities.
Over the next six weeks I will be showcasing what greatness means through my eyes with incredible examples (that are all very near and dear to my heart)… people, things, and organizations that make New York so wonderful and unique. You don’t have to look far – greatness is all over this city. Sometimes we just have to pause for a moment to celebrate it. Be sure to follow along on Instagram as I will be highlighting a new one every week!
But before I share my personal examples, today we are going to talk about Edna Mitchell! The Poland Spring® brand found local greatness in Edna Mitchell, an eighty-eight-year-old volunteer ambulance driver who shows vitality and a passion for helping people. She served as an EMT for 38 years and still drives her unit’s vehicle today. Watch the video below, and learn more about her story here. I can not believe she is 88 years old and driving an ambulance – it’s pretty amazing. Her passion and zest for life reminds me of my own grandmother who passed away last year but was a true force of nature – active until the very end.
Having grown up in the Northeast, the Poland Spring® brand was (and still is!) a household name. Their water comes from several springs in Maine and is primarily distributed in the Northeast US. With the Greatness Springs from Here™ campaign, the Poland Spring® brand hopes to create a sense of connection among people who live in the Northeast region.
To me, greatness isn’t about fame or fortune… it’s about demonstrating “extraordinary” through what you do and who you are. Ordinary people, doing extraordinary things. Whether it’s following a passionate pursuit, making a local impact in your community, or defying conventions, anyone can be great. Working on this campaign has been particularly inspiring to me – this has been a busy summer and at times I’ve felt as though I’m in a bit of a rut, both personally and professionally. Having the chance to highlight other people has both inspired me while helping to shift my focus outward vs. inward… I can’t wait to share with you!
Be sure to follow along on Instagram – I’m excited to help the Poland Spring® brand showcase all the people, places, and things that make New York so wonderful!
