Our family trip to Cape Cod was SO nice. I wouldn’t call it relaxing (10 people including 3 kids under 5 in one house!) but it was the absolute best to have the whole family together as it had been a couple years (the last time we did this was pre-COVID, same house!).

There is something really wonderful about returning to your hometown. So much has changed but a lot feels exactly the same. We didn’t do much. It rained a few days so there was lots of indoor playtime… we went to our neighbor’s beach a lot, we cooked, and we spent a lot of time with extended family (my two aunts and great aunt and uncle still live here). We did split the group up and have one really nice dinner out (Inaho, our favorite sushi!) but otherwise… it was just a whole lot of family time, which was so wonderful. If there is one thing – and there are many! – that the pandemic really made me appreciate, it was this. Family time, all of us together. So so special.

Even though by the end of the trip I was feeling a little haggard, I wished we could stay another week… I wasn’t ready to come home, I will miss my sisters and their kids a lot. The one really exciting thing is that my sister Becca and her family move to Charleston at the beginning of August… so that will be great, I am really looking forward to it.

In case you missed it, all my Cape Cod recs are in this post!

(Got some sizing q’s on this dress – I just took my usual size, a 38 which is a US 6. It fits true to size/intentionally oversized but it’s definitely short!)

PS – These denim shorts are a new favorite – so similar to the Rag & Bone boy shorts from several years ago that I always wear. The only difference is that the fabric is a little heavier/thicker and that I take my usual size (in the Rag & Bones I would always go down a size or two!)

PPS – Take $50 off your first pair of Sarah Flint shoes (including these sandals) with code SARAHFLINT-GRACE50 – these are def my favorite summer slides.

Those leather flats are so cute! Also, hope you’re tying your espadrilles the RIGHT way now! HA! No more flopping around! This trip looked like so much fun and so much good food. Need to visit, I’ve never been!

Sounds like heaven and I love the outfits, but the real question I want to know is how many of those books did you end up reading on your trip? I miss the weekly what-are-you-reading recaps on BOP.

Hi, I love your posts about Cape Cod. I used to go in my 20’s with my boyfriend them and always wished we’d marry and bring our kids there. We never married though and I am 55 now, divorced, with custody of my 16 year old. I’ve been taking her to Cape Cod every year for a week in August for the last 7 years. I love Cape Cod. It is my Heaven on Earth. We are going again from August 14th to August 21st. I stayed in Dennisport last year. This year we will be in South Yarmouth. Thank you so much for your posts. I am working so hard in New York as a home health aide. My daughter went to visit her dad in Arkansas and will be home next Wednesday. I love Cape Cod and can’t wait to go. Thank you for your beautiful comments.
