Everlane Cashmere Sweater 2

Yay, Monday! Okay – not yay… but maybe yay to longer days + the fact that it is actually not freezing cold this week? So happy. Hope you guys had a fun weekend. Mine was eventful. On Friday night, two of my girlfriends and I went to the premiere of Three Hearts (opening night of the French Film Festival), and on Saturday night I went bowling for a friend’s party. In between, some exercise classes and then a yum dinner at Jack’s Wife Freda with my cousin last night.

Anyway… as much as I love J.Crew, I have to say it: their cashmere isn’t what it used to be. I remember my first J.Crew cashmere sweater… so soft and thick. Worth the money. Now, sometimes the cashmere doesn’t even feel like cashmere. My friend Felicia talked about it here… and I emailed her after reading her post, which led to her telling me about the beauty of Everlane’s cashmere sweaters. And oh. The cashmere is really good. Buttery soft with not even the slightest scratch to it. (At a fairly good price, too!) Game changer.

PS – these BaubleBar cone cuffs are a recent fave. I love the way they sit on the wrist. (solid gold + pavé)

I feel like many brands have slacked in the quality department in order to bring down prices. I’m excited to check out Everlane’s cashmere sweaters. I’m sure they are as good as you describe!

I agree with you on the JCrew cashmere! So disappointing. Uniqlo also has amazing cashmere that’s only $80 full price! I love this color combo!

I have been looking at that sweater for about one month and trying to decide. Two questions, does it run true to size? And the color trying to decide what it is similar to ? Any input would be helpful. Thanks, Marianne

      Hi Marianne!
Yes, it does run true to size. This one is described as slouchy on the website so it does run a little bit bigger. As far as the color goes, I’m not really sure what you are asking! But the color is exact to the color in my post. I really love this one (I bought it in gray and ivory as well!)

I agree with Michele that j.crew is slacking in the quality department, but in order to bring down their costs, not prices. Prices at J.crew are getting ridiculous! Quality is no Bueno – buttons falling off my pea coat days after purchase (and after every time I had them resewn – coat is currently retired due to lack of buttons), seams splitting in pants on the first wear, fortunately before I left the house, and eyelet embroidery unravelling on my blouse the first time I washed it. Also the kooky styling and “edgy/cool/tomboy” vibes just do not work for me like the old school j.crew did 20 years ago when I bought my first twin set in high school. Sad.

I bought their cashmere tunic last winter and it already has two holes in it which I’m very disappointed in. Maybe I’ll have to try another style….

While J. Crew has lovely clothes I don’t get why every blogger features them on a constant basis. The quality is just not there and it’s over price.
ps-I really love your new blog

Thanks margo! Yeah, I mean, I can’t say I’m anti-J.Crew… I love their stuff (especially their blazers – which I think are still well made) and t-shirts (striiiiipes!) when they are on sale. That said, the quality is definitely not what it once was. I ordered a cashmere sweater from them earlier this year and was so upset when I received it. So scratchy and itchy… and thin! A total bummer – and I couldn’t return it because I’d had it monogrammed! I won’t be ordering cashmere from them again. I just wish the Everlane ones came in all the pretty colors that J.Crew offers!
