I was late to join the Eve Lom bandwagon. No specific reason, I just hadn’t been exposed to her products. I’d heard about her magical cleansing balm (which is actually the first cleansing balm ever, developed 25 years ago!)… but once I tried it for myself (a couple years ago) I finally understood the hype and became a total brand devotee… especially when it came to the cleansing balm. First of all, it smells incredible. Clove, eucalyptus, chamomile, and hops combine to make cleansing an experience… the combination of oils makes the smell very distinct (I’d know it anywhere) but also heavenly. You massage it into dry skin, allow it to sit for a bit and dissolve any makeup/impurities, and then use a hot, damp muslin cloth to remove it. If you have the time, let the cloth sit on your face for a few minutes for a spa-like experience, and then remove. It’s one of the best ways to wash your face, and it leaves your skin so so soft. If you are prone to dry skin, it’s everything. You can even skip moisturizer if you’d like (though I don’t, as my skin can be so dry).
But let’s be realistic: it’s not every day that you can afford to have washing your face be a grand ritual. I wish it could be that way but sometimes you just want your makeup off – ASAP, without any fuss or frills. The brand took that feedback from customers and just launched their new gel balm cleanser which I got to try a few weeks ago before the rest of the world. Since testing it, it’s become my favorite cleanser/daily go-to. I use it every day… except for the nights where I do a little extra pampering and use the original. It has all the best things about the cleansing balm (that fragrance! hydration!) in a more convenient form. You can just use it in the shower on damp skin. Massage a little in like any regular cleanser, rinse off, and voila – all of your makeup (yes, even waterproof) is removed, your skin is ultra soft… the same results, without the muslin cloth and extra effort.
In a perfect world, I’d say get both… something for when you have a little extra time; something for when you’re in a rush, but if you can only get one go with the gel cleanser. It’s the more practical option of the two and will become your favorite everyday cleanser.

You said it – I love cleaning my face thoroughly, but I can’t spend an hour or longer on it daily. A convenient way seems like the perfect solution!
