Emerald Green Dress.

You guys, I dressed up for you! Are you shocked? Yeah, me too. It’s been so cold out that I’ve been living in workout gear and/or jeans, thick socks, and flannel shirts. Even though I was freezing cold it felt nice to dress up and put on a pretty dress.

This has been a good week. I thrive on routine and have really enjoyed being able to sit down at my desk, be productive, and get ahead!!! I’m still not exactly where I want to be in terms of being fully caught up, but I’m making progress and am in big time planning mode… mostly working on a few partnerships and thinking about February’s Wellness Challenge + what that will entail. (I’m thinking self-love as a theme!)

I’ve been saying no a lot this week as well.

I’ve come to realize over time that while I really love the flexibility of being my own boss, I am happiest and most productive when I treat my blog like a day job and am at my desk every day from 9-5. This has been a big thing since moving to Brooklyn too – I don’t want to drag myself into the city unless it’s for something I’m really excited about. It can be tricky navigating your calendar when you work for yourself… everyone wants a piece of your calendar! Breakfasts, coffees, lunches… all just to stay in touch! I love networking but I also hate wasting time. So I’ve been pushing to have calls vs. meetings whenever possible. It sounds a little ruthless but by saying no to the unnecessary stuff you are making room for more of the stuff you actually want/need to do… even if that thing is getting to yoga or spending an hour at home reading on your couch. Self-care is important. Say no, friends… be a little selfish. It’s good for the soul.

Outfit Details: BB Dakota Faux Fur Jacket (I’m wearing last year’s version but this year’s version is basically the same. It’s the best and a great price, also available here, here, + here!) // EDIT Swing Dress (also available in black, white, + a fun pink + red combo) // Express Opaque Tights (the best!) // Stuart Weitzman Over the Knee Boots // The Row x Linda Farrow Sunglasses (old but these are identical) // Vintage Hermes Birkin Bag

It will be in February’s reading list but I could not put down Little Fires Everywhere! If you’re looking for a great book… definitely pick this one up. Celeste Ng is a master story teller!

I have this same dress in black and absolutely love it! So versatile and easy to accessorize. I totally agree that drop waists are the best. 🙂

I LOOOVE this look! Currently wearing an emerald green sweater and camel flats so wondering why this color combo looked so familiar!

I’m also working on getting better at saying no and man, it feels good!

I’m starting to travel for work…Canada next week and NYC in February! 🙂 best places for dresses….that are under $100? Thinking my wardrobe for work trips will be tights, dresses & boots! I’m almost 30 and feel like lots of places are too “old” or too “young”. Thanks!

You said it so well, saying no when needed doesn’t mean that we’re selfish but that we have acknowledged what self-care is and that sometimes by saying no we do make more space for new and better chances and things we didn’t had time for before.
You are looking adorable in this green girly dress. 🙂

Saying no has been one of my goals for this year. In 2017, I routinely found every weeknight (and often weekend nights) booked solid. It left me feeling so drained and like I had no time to take care of myself or my home. I’ve been trying to say no to more things (which is hard when you feel both the professional and personal pull to “get out there”) and to keep some white space on my calendar (Hitha talked about this recently on her blog). When I have nothing planned, I find that I’m better about sticking to other goals, i.e. packing my bags the night before so I can go to the gym in the AM, cooking a healthy meal and packing the leftovers to take for lunch the next day, going to bed early, etc.

So much yes to this!!! It can be so easy to book yourself solid and that is just the worst!!! Good for you and cheers to saying no whenever it suits you!
