Something I talk about here a lot lately is living a bit more slowly and taking the time to savor + enjoy life as opposed to rushing through it. I’ve started avoiding my phone + the laptop as much as I can over weekends, but I feel like there’s still so much more I could be doing in terms of disconnecting a bit further. It’s worth it – besides the peace of mind/mental health break it provides, whenever I take myself offline, I always end up feeling so much more inspired and creative.
March 28th is Earth Hour – a global movement for the planet (organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature — WWF.) From 8:30-9:30pm, they’re encouraging us all to join the movement and turn off the lights. When Timex approached me about participating alongside the brand, it was a no-brainer. I’m planning on putting on my comfiest PJ’s, lighting a few candles, and reading a book. A glass of wine may be involved.
To help countdown, Timex is showing its commitment via an interactive microsite counting down the seconds until Earth Hour 2015. It features the Timex INDIGLO night-light (a signature feature of the brand’s watches that can help “light up” the darkness during Earth Hour in an energy-efficient way.
And on the microsite, you can make your own pledge. Tell Timex how you’ll use your “Time to Glo” during Earth Hour to positively impact the planet, and they’ll donate $1 to the movement (up to $50,000) for every pledge shared via social (just include #TimetoGLO) in your post.
So why not visit and make a pledge? I’m pledging to turn off all of my electronics, breathe deeply, and spend the hour being fully present + relaxed.
On a lighter note – I love my navy Timex watch. Lucky for you, Timex is giving away one watch to a lucky Stripe reader. Just enter using the Rafflecopter widget at the bottom of this post!
