Dress it Up! Shorts and a Tee

Old-Navy-Shorts-1

One of my favorite summer outfits is a basic tee + shorts, dressed up.  But it can feel a little boring if not properly done right.

It starts out very simple (above.)  In both outfits, I’m wearing my favorite Old Navy Pocket Tee.  (I buy these in bulk – they are truly the perfect t-shirt.  Just the right amount of drape and honestly nicer than a lot of my more expensive tees.)  In the first look I wore some printed shorts, and in the second, printed cut-offs.  Let’s be honest here… I am not looking my best.  Though I am just under 5’8, my legs look a little stumpy… and the outfit would work on weekends or for the beach, but certainly not for work.

The first step is to add heels.  It’s crazy what a difference it makes.  Longer, leaner… better.  Don’t go too high here (maybe 3 or 4 inches… nothing higher!)

Next, add a classic blazer.  I went for my Becky Jacket in the first look, and my fave white Zara blazer in the second.

And finally, add some pretty  jewels… it’s all about the pretty little details that make the outfit special and fun.

Some variation of shorts and a tee is my favorite summer look. I just stumbled on my new favorite tee, but I’ll have to try out the Old Navy ones too!

Adore! Totally agree with you. I even stick to flats sometimes, but it’s all about chic styles, not the sandals. The jewels and blazer make it!

Fun post! I think as long as you have fun shoes and some jewelry you can pretty much get away with anything!
